Betty Rosenbaum Laningham
In 2006, the Salyer-Lee Chapter recognized the long-term member, Mrs. Betty Laningham. Betty Rosenbaum Laningham has been a member of the UDC for some 62 years. The Salyer Lee Chapter #1417 celebrated the membership of Betty Laningham in the United Daughters of the Confederacy on October 7, 2006 with a special ceremony at Mosby’s in Wise, VA. Betty was presented with a special pin to mark the occasion.
As a young girl, Betty Rosenbaum Laningham was encouraged
to join the The Lighthorse Harry Lee Chapter of the United Daughters of the
Confederacy with her mother. Betty remained a member of that chapter for some
50 + years until it disbanded. Betty moved her membership to the Salyer-Lee
Chapter in Wise, VA.
Betty Rausenbaum Laningham married John Wynn Laningham. They have two sons,
J. Lee and John W. Laningham Jr.
Betty R. Laningham is a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Pennington Gap, Virginia. Betty Laningham is very active in civic
organizations. She is a member of 2 Daughters of the American Revolution chapters:
the Lovelady Chapter and the Major George Gibson Chapter. She is a member
of the Lee County Virginia Garden Club, the Jonesville Women’s Club,
and the Powell Valley Chapter of the Eastern Star.
