Henry Daniel Addison


            Henry served in Company I, formerly Company F, 6th CSA Cavalry Battalion. Applied for a pension in 1909, then age 64, at Castlewood, Russell Co., VA. Claimed in his statement, “I first enlisted in the 10th Kentucky Regiment, Hodges Brigade, Capt. McFarlane’s Company and that I served with this regiment till the Spring of 1864 when we were transferred to Company I, 34th Virginia Cavalry. We were under Gen. Witcher. I was with Gen. Witcher when he raided West Virginia. I was with him at Saltville where he fought Stoneman and Burbage and I surrendered with the said General Witcher at Christiansburg, VA.” He is also shown on the rolls as 5th Sergeant of Company G, 13th Battalion Virginia Reserves.

                        Henry Daniel was the son of Hiram Addison of Russell County, VA. Henry was born December 3, 1846 in Russell County, died July 27, 1923. He married twice and had 10 children. His second wife, Sarah Mash, was born May 24, 1855, died June 21, 1940.

            Children: (1) Robert Addison, 1893-1909, never married; (2) Emma Mae Addison, 1887-1976 married William Charles Buttry; (3) Leanna Maude Addison, 1896-1975 married Kemper Pippin; (4) Clint Lafate Addison, 1882-1963 never married; (5) Henry Estel Addison, 1884-1954 married Ola Dickenson; (6) Etta Ann Addison, 1887-1976 married James R. Meade.
