Searching for John HAWKINS born in the early 1700's. He lived in Spotsylvania County and may have moved to Cheraw District SC in the 1780's. His wife's first name may have been Constance. Have seen in documents that John HAWKINS and Thomas POWE new each other and may have been neighbors in Spotsylvania County. They both show up in Cheraw District SC in the 1790's and were neighbors there. Cheraw District SC later became Darlington County in 1795. Have much info. on HAWKINS line in SC to present, but have hit the brickwall with finding John HAWKINS's origin. This possibly is barking up the wrong tree. Thank You.

Their son John (b.c.1740-1782) married Mary Brown (1743-1832). In 1779 John Burbridge was enlisted in Crockett's Illinois Regiment of VA, 7th VA Regiment.

I'm doing research on the LIVINGSTON family line....trying to gain some information about Robert LIVINGSTON b. ca 1757 VA....he was the son of Thomas LIVINGSTON b. ca 1731 VA..and Ann (Nancy) Taliaferro...The family had ties to Spotsylvania Co.VA....as I've read in the Book the Livingstons of Virginia....I don't have much info on Robert as his father died in Caroline Co.VA...when his 3 sons were quite small...there is info on the other sons...James Todd & Thomas, but the only thing I know about Robert is that he was a Lt. in the Amer. Rev. War....my thinking is that maybe after the war he moved back to the Spotsylvania Co. in VA. to live...any information is welcome.....Thanks so much.

My ancestor, Reuben BULLARD, died in Fredericksburg in 1797, but I can find nothing of his parents. I was told that his 1st wife was a Woolfolk from Caroline county, but that he may have been originally from Spotsylvania. I have seen info on a Richard and an Ambrose Bullard in Spotsylvania Co, and an Ambrose Bullard was one of the witnesses on my Reuben Bullard's will. Surely all these Bullards are related...the only trick is to figure out HOW. Any help/suggestions appreciated.

My great-great grandfather was John Kabler WRENN (7/24/1841-9/11/1915). I know he came from Virginia before settling in Goldsboro, Wayne Co., NC, where he was married to Martha PHILLIPS. His parents were Louis (Lewis?) Wrenn and Eliza PILCHER (1816-1891). I have reason to believe that Eliza was born in Fredericksburg or nearby in Spotsylvania Co. A Lewis Wrenn and Eliza E. Wrenn are both noted as living in Spotsylvania in the indices for the 1860 and 1870 Censuses. Thanks for any further info about Lewis, Eliza, or their relatives.

I am searching for information on John TALBERT (TOLBERT) from Spotsylvania County, VA circa 1730 to 1790. He shows up in some early Spotsylvania land records and also in the 1787 census. He lived around the Halliday and Rawlings families and in fact both names show up in the family as either first or middle names in the middle 1800's. His wife's name was Margaret.

Thomas GUY (wife Mary) received 1000 acres of land in in St. George's Parish in Spotsylvania Co., VA on 30 June 1726. Thomas GUY had a son Thomas who married Susannah BUFORD 14 Oct 1789. Thomas GUY, the son, was a cooper and did some work for Mr. Richard PARROT. Richard PARROT was Susannah BUFORD's grandfather. Susannah's father was John BEAUFORD (d. April 18, 1722) and her mother was Elizabeth PARROT. I would appreciate any information concerning these families. Thanks!

Looking for information on Elisha HAYNES (HANES or HAINES) b 1805, Hanover Co, married Margaret MARSHALL in Caroline Co 1833, purchased land in Marye, Spotsylvania Co in 1847 and lived there until his death after 1880. His son was William James HAYNES, b. Marye a. 1840, married Mary Florence HARRIS a. 1860; he was killed in the Civil War. His son was William Lewis HAYNES, b 1862, Marye, married Sarah CARNEAL 1889; he died in 1917 in Summit. His son was James Lewis HAYNES, b. 1892, Massaponax, married Beatrice SALE 1917; he died 1963. Searching for ancestors of Charles ROBBINS father of James ROBBINS. Charles died in Spotsylvania in about 1793. James married Elizabeth XXXX and purchased land in the county on several occasions. In 1785 from John and Sarah Sorrell, Feb 1790 from David Pullman. Also from the Willoughby's and Sorrell's in Berkeley Par.,Spv. This clan of ROB(B)INS migrated later to Franklin Co. TN. They also had unknown ties to kin in KY (Lucy, Joanna, Sarah ROBINS all of Scott Co. KY gave him power of Atty in 1793). Any help to tie it all together or find where Charles came from would be appreciated.

Seeking information on the descendants of John MURPHY, b. abt 1740 Dublin, Ireland, was in Spotsylvania Co, VA by 1770, where he married (unknown) and had five children: Harris MURPHY, David MURPHY, Zachariah MURPHY, Susanna MURPHY and Mary MURPHY. These children were bound out by the Orphans Court in Spotsylvania County to three different families between 1787 and 1792. Nothing further is known of Harris, David or Mary. Zachary married Lucy ATKINS, d/o James ATKINS & Anny PIGG, and moved after 1800 to Clark Co, KY. Susanna Murphy married Thomas TRUE, nothing more is known. I know Delilah's history after 1840 but not between her birth and marriage to Ezekiel Shepherd (Preston Co.). I also do not know where Charles and Elizabeth lived, were born, married or are buried. I am searching for information about the parents of Robert Gaines, m. Ursula, DOD 1763, Spotsylvania Co, VA. near the Orange Co line, per Will Book D, Spotsylvania County Records, 1721-1800 by William A. Crozier, 1955, page 61.

The following are believed to be the children of Robert and Ursula; 1. William DOD 1813, m. Jane Robinson: 2. Alice, m. John Robinson: 3. Ursula, m. Elijah Carter: 4. Mary: 5. Robert, m. ca 1770 Eliz. Long: 6. Lucy. Robert Gaines was at one time thought to be a sibling of William Gaines, m. Isabella Pendelton and the son of Richard Gaines(1686-1756) of Culpepper Co, VA but this has been disproved. Help in determining the true parents of this Robert Gaines is greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have information on Fannie TRUE of Spotsylvania Co. Three of her children were (1) Sarah A., born abt 1817, married Robert ROSE in Fredericksburg 1842. (2) Martha, born Dec 1818, married John James "Jeems" TRUSLOW in 1842. (3) John M., born Feb 1821, married Mary Catharine ARCHER in 1845, Pike Co. MO. This is all the information I have on Fannie. John PARTLOW: He was born in Wales in 1710. He came from Wales in 1735 to Virginia... He had three known children: John Partlow II (b. 1736)and purchased land in Spotsylvania County, Virginia where he died Dec. 11, 1789, Samuel Partlow, and David Partlow. John Partlow on a trip to receive a legacy in Wales in 1750 he was drown at sea. I would like to know who his wife was. I would like to learn where he was born in Wales. Who his parents were? Just some kind of a lead.

Seeking info. on Francis SIMPSON, probably Sr.. and Jr. The younger Francis migrated from Spottsylvania Co. VA in the 1790's to what was then Fayette Co. KY, later Clark Co. He reportedly served in the Revolutionary War and was at the surrender of Cornwallis, however the US Gov.. turned down his widow's pension application for lack of proof. He also had a brother-in-law named Tilley Emerson who migrated to Kentucky at the same time. The elder Simpson is said to have come from Scotland. Any information would be welcome. Will gladly share what I have.

Looking for information on Powell ROBINSON. Powell shows up in Hawking Co., TN about 1840. States his father is from Virginia. There are many Robinsons in Spotsylvania in mid 1700s. Were any of these his father? Powell also states his mother was born in N.C. So Robinson migrated from Spotsylvania to NC, picked up a wife and migrated to TN.? Could her maiden name be Powell? This Powel Robinson is my brick wall. Can anyone help? Thanks!

PRATT Anywhere, VA 1600-1800, researching Jonathan PRATT b. abt 1715, poss. VA, d. abt 1781, Culpeper Co., poss. 2 marriages, 1st w. unknown, 2nd w. Mary poss. REDMAN. He is named in Deed rec. Orange Co. 1740 with Richard MAULDIN. Possibly previous records listed in Spotsylvania Co. Will of 1777 exec. 1781 names son Thomas and wife's daughter Katherine REDMAN. Culpeper Co. records name two other sons: James and Jonathan, Jr. Other Culpeper Co. records name Elizabeth PRATT m. Robert John MANSELL, possibly daughter of Jonathan. Am interested in finding any additional deed records, birth records, marriage records, church records on Pratts in Spotsylvania Co. prior to 1781. Would welcome any information.
