HOGAN. I have traced a line of Hogans to Randolph Co., WV in the mid 1800's. They are said to have originated from Spotsylvania Co., VA. George E. HOGAN, b. approximately 1795, d. Jan 4, 1849, married Martha A. RICHARDSON, b. 1803, d. 1853. George E. Hogan is buried in Huttonsville, WV, so we know they had left Spotsylvania Co. by 1849. Their son, William H. HOGAN, b. Dec. 16, 1840, d. 1901, is also said to have been born in Spotsylvania Co., VA. I cannot find any information on this family before their move to Randolph Co., WV. I have found a ship list of the brig Fanny from 1769 with a passenger by the name of Daniel HOGAN, however, I do not know if he is connected to George E. Hogan. Any info appreciated. This line has thrown me for a loop.

I need help trying to locate the will of John WIATT His will was recorded in Spotsyvania County around 1785. He was listed in the Amherst County Census in 1782. It is known that he had relatives from Spotsylvania County and that he was from there. My ancestor had a child named John Wiatt PETTYJOHN which we feel is named after a WIATT since that name does not carry any family significance. We are looking to see if John WIATT had a daughter named Elizabeth who married a William PETTYJOHN. Thanks for your help!

Benjamin TALBERT (Rev. War application S16548, Baldwin Co. Georgia) tells he was born in Spotsylvania Co. Virg. 1764, and lived there 5 years after enlisting (c. 1779-1774) migrated to S.Car. for 1 year, then Wilkes Co. Ga. for 2, Clarke Co.Ga. for 2, Hancock Co. Ga. for 12, and finally Baldwin Co. Ga.
He may be son of a Joseph TALBERT and Sarah who sold land in Spotsylvania Co. in 1752, who may be son of John TALBERT and Margaret WALLER? (poss. dau. of Edmund WALLER, with sons John and William). John TALBERT apparently migrated from England on an indenture one of 8 (listed in Calv. and Pioneers) 1712 in Essex, then rec. land in Spotsylvania in 1734.

Need info on Edward THOMAS - died intestate ca 1798 in Spotsylvania Co. Left wife Mary and eleven children. One of the oldest children was Henry, whose wife was also named Mary. Henry died 1822 in Orange Co. Edward's
wife, Mary, and the four youngest children removed to Williamson Co TN in 1819. The names of these children were: Edward, Jr, Nancy, Catherine, and Lucy. In TN, Catherine married William Rainey, Lucy married John Ray (Wray) and it is thought Edward, Jr married Nancy---. The third daughter, Nancy, does not appear to have married. Their mother, Mary, died in 1827 in Williamson Co TN. Would like to know parents of Edward Thomas and parents of Mary, his wife.

Am trying to identify ancestors of Charles L. BEAZLEY, born 5-12-1815, who married (first) Mary Jane ALSOP of Spotsylvania County and (second) her sister, Amanda M. ALSOP. Another sibling, Joseph Matthew "Hugh" ALSOP, born 8-10-1818, married Susan Jane BEAZLEY, born 9-11-1823. I understand she was the daughter of William C. BEAZLEY and Susanna GRAVES and the granddaughter of Thomas GRAVES and Ann GRADY. Could Susan Jane and Charles L. have been siblings?

I am trying to any find information regarding my ancestors Michael and Elizabeth BLUNT. They owned (purchased & sold) property in Berkeley Parrish, Spotsylvania County, Virginia between 1770 and 1792. This is according to records found in two books, "Spotsylvania Court Records" and "Virginia County Records, Spotsylvania County 1721-1800" and also two indentures from the court records. Elizabeth BLUNT is also mentioned, but not her maiden name. I believe that this Michael & Elizabeth BLUNT are the parents of Susannah (Sukey) BLUNT who married Leroy HAMILTON 12 Jan., 1800 in St. Thomas Parrish, Orange Co., Va., Michael BLUNT is mentioned. Leroy & Sukey HAMILTON had 3-4 children in Spotsylvania or Orange Co. and moved on to Fayette and then Clark Co., Ky. around 1804. I haven't found Michael BLUNT listed in any of the tax rolls. They may have also had a son named Beverly as there was a Beverly BLUNT in Clark Co., Ky. the same time as Sukey BLUNT HAMILTON...he was a grocer in Winchester. Sukey BLUNT HAMILTON may have died in 1825 or at least close to that date. I believe that she was born about 1782-4. Any help regarding the above (or if there is a BLUNT/BLOUNT family page) would be greatly appreciated. I'll look forward to any replies. Thanks in advance.
