I am a descendant of the union of Michael ROBINSON, b. Jan 1,1786 in Spotsylvania Co, VA, and Mary MAGEE, b. June 22, 1785 in Spotsylvania Co, VA. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (ROBINSON) MAGEE. Mary's mother (Mary ROBINSON) was a sister to Michael's father, Michael ROBINSON, Jr., thus making this Michael and Mary cousins. Confusing - especially since the names of man and wife for three consecutive generations were the same. Michael ROBINSON may have married second wife on Apr 3, 1838 - Mary PHILLIPS, b. Feb 22, 1808 in VA.

I have no other information re Mary PHILLIPS except a grave marker in Mt. Zion Church cemetery, near Hallsville and Murry in Boone Co, MO., for "Mary O Robinson, wife of M. Robinson, who died 10/20/1878 at the age of 70 years, 7 months, 28 days". Please contact me if you have info or know of resources to prove (or disprove) this relationship and their children's names. Thank you for your help.

I am trying to confirm that my ancestor Francis (F. F.) ROBINSON (born 1803 in VA and died 1859 in MO) of Boone County, KY (1840 and 1850 federal census) was the son of Benjamin (b 1761 and d 1825) and Catherine PARKER ROBINSON of Spotsylvania County. Francis' first wife was Emily WALLER (married 1826). I found a Spotsylvania County deed from her father, William Waller to her and it mentions her forthcoming marriage to Francis Robinson. I have been unable to locate their marriage record or to find them on the VA or KY 1830 census.

Emily and Francis had four children before she died in 1835. Francis then married Lucinda Anderson of Boone County, KY and they had several children. They moved to MO after 1850 and Francis died there in 1859.

I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Trying to obtain information and dates on the following area people by the last name of CARTER and how the name came to the area if possible (area of which I know is Paytes, Jones, or Belmont area around now known as the Lake Anna or Lake Anna State Park).
My great-great grandmother was Georgia CARTER and I think her mother was Phoebe CARTER. She (Georgia) had three children by the names of Dewey CARTER, Cleveland CARTER, and Anna Kate CARTER.
Anna Kate Carter married Charlie Hart and had several children (Ernest, Ruth, Ruby, Johnny, and Louise). Anna and Charlie Hart died in the 1960's. Cleveland Carter died in the late 1960's or early 1970's, no children by him. Dewey Carter died in the 1980's, no children by him.
Questions are: 1. Where did they originated from and dates, if possible (census in the area)?
2. Who are Phoebe Carter's parents?
3. Who was Georgia Carter children's father name (last name will do, if possible)?
4. Is there a place in Spotsylvania County named the "Carter Plantation", and location?
5. What area of the county are these Carters located?

I'm researching a BUCHANAN line that has been found in the Livingston, Spotsylvania, Virginia 1880 census spelled as BUCHANNON. (Census' spellings before and after 1880 spelled their name BUCHANAN.)

Head of the family is W.S. (William S.)....51 years old, born in VA
Wife is Amanda M. (nee STEUART).......51 years old, born in VA (perhaps a couple years older)
Children, all born in VA, are.....

Ernest, son ........29 years old
Laura T, daughter...27 years old
Marion, Son........ 17 years old
William W., Son........ 12 years old
Braudie, Son........15 years old
Braxton, Son........9 years old
I'm directly related to Braxton BUCHANAN and found a relative of William W. BUCHANAN on the net. Any information on the other children would be so appreciated.

In an 1860 census, William S. BUCHANAN is 29 with wife and children, but also present is another William, age 69. But it is possible the elder William was born in 1780-1790, with a brother John M (wife Lucy, son Charles) living in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania co. Does anyone have information about a Powell or Ptolemy POWELL Reunion annually in the Fredricksburg/Spotsylvania area. I have heard that it is usually held in May or June. Thanks.

I am interested in slave related records and information for slaves in the family of William JOHNSTON m. Ann "Nan" Marie CHEW.

My ancestors were slaves in the family of William H. Johnston m. Margaret HUTCHINSON of Bourbon Co., KY -- and they removed to Boone Co., MO in the early 1800s with William's parents: Capt. William H. Johnston and Rachel SPEARS. Rachel's father was Jacob Spears. The Capt.'s parents were: Robert Bruce Johnston m. Peggy McCLANAHAN. Peggy's parents were Thomas C. McClanahan and Martha STROTHER. Thomas left several slaves to his children grandchildren upon his death as did Jacob Spears to his daughter and grandson William H. Johnston Jr. Robert's father was Robert Johnston Sr., who was twice married -- once to Ann COOK and then to Lucy OVERTON. Robert's parents were: William Johnston and Ann Chew. I have also followed the lines of their other children and see that there were many slave transactions via land deed records.

When William Johnston Jr., died in 1830 in Boone Co., MO -- his slaves were bought by his widow's brother Mr. James S. Hutchinson -- and the slaves were sold to Margaret Johnston's new husband Nathaniel LEONARD and she received revisionary interest in the slaves. Nathaniel Leonard and James Hutchinson were the founders of a very famous shorthorn cattle farm in Bunceton, MO called Ravenswood. James Hutchinson married Martha V. Tutt and the TUTTS also owned my ancestors and have Culpepper and Farquier Co., ties....

If you have wills, probate, land deed records that you can share with slave related information please let me know. I also have about 3-5 wills and final settlement records I need from the Spotsylannia courthouse if anyone is able to retrieve those for me.. I will pay for copies & gas. If you know a special collection etc., that would include family bible records of slave data etc., I would be most interested.
