Genealogy Homepage Referred by: Net Search From: Rio Vista, CA Time: 1998-03-23 04:57:00 Comments: We have have been researching for some 40 years the family and descendants of LEWIS TACQUETT (aka Tackett/Tackitt), from France to England with passage paid to Virginia in 1686 by Nicholas Hayward. Also on same passage document are the found LOUIS REYNAUD family (Reno), JEAN de la CHAUMETTE (Shumate), MICHEL MAURI, MARQUIS CALMES, PIERRE DISBOTEAU & JEAN MAIRAC, and others. The TACKETT/TACKITT, SHUMATE, RENO & CALMES families all settled near one another in old Stafford Co. along Cedar Run around 1700. Two of the TACKETT descendants were later Clerks of the Stafford Court after 1800. [Jim W. Tackitt is also co-compiler & vendor of the book "Stafford Co., VA, 1800-1850," (1980), vendor for "The Story of Stafford," by the late Judge John Tackett Goolrick (1939), and vendor for the re-drawn 1737 Brent Towne Tract.] Write: Jim W.
