GRS Installation and Use
Here are instructions, for installing and using the GRS program, I suspect
that the real problem people are having continues beyond installation. They
probably want someone to tell them how to use the program. It's all in the
Help file.
Instructions for installing GRS:
Put a Family Archive CD that uses GRS in your D Drive (assuming D is your
CD drive, Substitute another letter if necessary.) CD229 is an example of
a CD that uses GRS.
-
Open Windows Explorer.
-
Navigate to D drive.
-
Left click D drive to highlight it and bring up list of D drive directories
and files in the right panel.
-
In right panel find "Install.exe"
-
Left click "Install.exe" to highlight it, and then double click to run it
-
Follow the instructions in the window that comes up to install GRS.
-
If you accept defaults, a GRS directory will be installed in C drive and
GRS will be installed in that directory.
At this point, there are several ways to run GRS. If you don't know how,
do this:
-
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the GRS directory on C drive.
-
Left click GRS in left panel.
-
Left click GRS.exe in right panel to highlight it.
-
Right click GRS.exe in right panel. A menu comes up.
-
Click create shortcut.
-
A shortcut to GRS will now be at the bottom of the list of files in the right
panel.
-
Drag the GRS shortcut to your desktop. (Put cursor on the shortcut, hold
down the left button and drag.)
-
Close Explorer.
-
Double click the GRS shortcut on the desktop to open GRS.
When the GRS opening window comes up, you must hit Enter.
Then you will see a screen that says something about loading a CD, assuming
you have left the original CD in the drive or replaced it with another one
that uses GRS
After that you must follow instructions on screen-all archaic DOS stuff.
But it works
