Genealogy Tours and Classes at Central Library
Genealogy Tours of the Family History and Genealogy section of the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library are for individuals beginning genealogical research or individuals new to family research in the MEO Central Library. The tours will include information about what resources are available at the Central Library and an introduction to the Virginia Beach Genealogical Society. Tours last approximately 1-1/4 hours. Tours begin at 10:30 AM on Wednesdays and 7:00 PM Tuesdays in the Genealogy section of the library. For additional information or registration(required) please call 385-0110 or go in person to the Central Library Administrative Office, Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participation is limited to 15 individuals for each tour.

Online Computer Classes - Also, discover genealogical resources available in two monthly online computer classes featuring the use of AncestryLibrary and HeritageQuest on Monday mornings in the Central Library Computer Lab. The U.S. Census will be discussed in the first class and searching beyond the Census will be discussed in the second class. These classes are designed for adults beginning genealogical research or new to family research in the library. A Virginia Beach library card, basic knowledge of computer use and the ability to use a mouse and keyboard are required. Participants are encouraged to enroll in both classes. Registration is required for these classesand can be made by calling 385-0150.

Genealogy Classes at Central Library
These computer classes are designed for adults beginning genealogical research or new to family research in the Central Library. The first class discusses using the Census online and the second class discusses going beyond the Census. A Virginia Beach library card, basic knowledge of computers and the ability to use a mouse and keyboard are required. Registration is required for these classes and may be made by calling Central Library Reference and Information at 385-0110. Participants will be met at the front door.
There will be no classes in July and August.
There will be no classes in November and December.
