JUDITH M. WOODSON born Washington Co., Va., June 3, 1789; md Oba Woodson, 1813; moved in 1816 to Christian Co., Ky.; he died in 1825; mother of 6 children, 4 of whom lived to adulthood. In 1836 and 1837 her oldest daughter and her second son died; she died June 11, 1855.

General JOHN CAMPBELL born "on the head of Holston river in Washington Co., Va., March 14, 1777; his father, Col. David Campbell, moved to Knox Co., Tenn. with his family and built Campbell's Station; before he was 16 years old he served as a volunteer soldier for 6 months duty as a second lieutenant in U.S. army; 2 years later he was promoted to first lieutenant; to a captain later; during War of 1812 he attained ranks of major and colonel; in 1830 he and family moved to vicinity of Fort Gibson and 4 years later located at Cane Hill, Washington Co., Ark. where he died, Nov. 27, 1858; joined MEC 1832.

ANN PRICE born Abingdon, Va., Sept. 23, 1805; moved with parents to Ala. in 1810; married Major Dan Price in her 19th year of age; left a widow in 1833 with four children; a year later moved to Texas where she died recently.

Mrs. MARY BURNS STEEL born Petersburg, Va., Oct. 31, 1853; daughter of John and Sarah Burns; married Rev. S. A. Steel, Nov. 5, 1874, chaplain of University of Va.; teacher of vocal music in Martha Washington College in Abingdon, Va.; died Dec. 4, 1887; 4 children.

NETTIE ELIZABETH MOORE daughter of Jacob C. and Cynthia Moore born Lake City, Fla., July 14, 1867; graduate, Martha Washington College, Abingdon, Va., June 1884 with highest honors; her step-father, Dr. William Hawkins a help to her; died Rossville, Ga., Sept. 11, 1887.

WILLIAM J. CLARK born Washington Co., Va., August 24, 1830; died Coopers, West Va., Feb. 3, 1894; alumnus, Emory-Henry College; married Virginia F. Jones in 1856; five children.

WILLIAM P. HUNT born Abingdon, Virginia, February 9, 1817; died Williamsburg, Ky., Oct. 7, 1894; moved with widowed mother to Tennessee; at close of Civil War moved to Bourbon Co., Ky.; married Rebecca Grace Piles, June 5, 1895. She died Dec. 13, 1891. They had ten children.

Rev. ALEXANDER F. COPLE born Washington Co., Va., Dec. 1, 1823; died Beeville, Tx, April 5, 1897; licensed to preach, Methodist, 1844; ordained deacon 1847; ordained elder 1858; moved to Goliad, Tx, 1856; married Amelia Atlee, Tenn., May 1, 1850; 7 children.

ELIZABETH McCONNELL daughter of Thomas and Sarah Gilliland, born Washington Co., Va., Oct. 27, 1807; died near Huntsville, Ala., May 22, 1897; married Jeremiah Proctor, Aug. 26, 1826 (son John F.); this husband died Sept. 27, 1829. She married Abram McConnell, June 26, 1846, 4 children; he died April 12, 1867. She was a first cousin of John B. McFerrin.

MARTHA J. PRICE born Washington Co., Va., Aug. 29, 1850; died Glade Springs, Va., July 20, 1898; married Dr. W. H. Price, Aug. 22, 1867; 6 children.

THOMAS P. HOFFNOGLE, Abingdon, Virginia; born Dec. 26, 1812; died Mar. 13, 1900; for years a trustee of Martha Washington College; surviving him was his widow.

Rev. W. G. E. CUNNYNGHAM, DD, died Nashville, Tenn., March 31, 1900; born Knox Co., Tenn., 1820; son of Rev. J. Cunnyngham; entered the Holston Conference as a preacher in 1843 but in 1852 went to China as one of the missionaries in the church's mission there; returned to the States and taught at Science Hill Academy in Shelbyville, Ky.; moved to Abingdon, Va., where he was a pastor; professor in Martha Washington College for several years and later preacher in Knoxville, Tenn.; retired in 1894. Also, a tribute of respect to his memory by the Woman's Board of Foreign Missions; undated. [His picture, a side-view, published in the April 19, 1900 issue, page 8]

Horton of N.C., July 15, 1835; she died in 1880; 7 children, those surviving him were Mrs. E. L. Sitgreaves, Edwin A. Broyles, Adam C. Broyles, Mrs. S. E. Dilworth; a son, McBurney, died in S.C., aged 23 years; a son, Lodelius died in Denver, Col. aged 32 years; one child died in infancy; (2) Nancy A. Telford, Feb. 1, 1883; she died Sept. 15, 1885; (3) Mrs. Virginia C. Buhrman, August 22, 1888; one of the original charter members of the East Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia Railroad, now the Southern Railroad; burial in Urbanna Churchyard in Limestone, Tennessee.

SALLIE LOUISA DYE daughter of Charles and Angeline Dye; born Washington Co., Va., Oct. 22, 1892; died Aug. 8, 1900 of a severe infection.

PAUL C. LANDRUM, Abingdon, Va., married Theodosia Mitchell in 1867; died August 9, 1901.

MARGARET ELIZABETH McLIN died Feb. 23, 1902; married (1) Rev. George Eakin (died 1861); (2) Colonel John Blair McLin (died 1877); born at Dove Dale, family farm, near Abingdon, Va., Jan. 31, 1833; orphaned at age 9 years; reared thereafter by Major John Lynch and wife.

JOHN B. SMITH born Washington Co., Va., Aug. 28, 1828; died June 22, 1902; married Nannie J. Hull, Marion, Va., Nov. 9, 1861; his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lankford, predeceased him; his surviving children were W. T. Smith, Mrs. Sallie Vance and Mrs. Chrismond Honaker.

WINNIE DIGGS born Anson Co., N.C., Aug. 10, 1825; married Captain H. M. Diggs, Feb. 18, 1857; moved from N.C. to Va.; died near Abingdon, Va., Mar. 30, 1904. Daus., Mrs. J. Frank Gray and Mrs. Anne Spencer.

JOHN B. HAMILTON, a leading Methodist layman in the Holston Methodist Conference, died Abingdon, Va., Jan. 7, 1904; father of Rev. Tom S. Hamilton.

Rev. RUSH F. JACKSON died Abingdon, Va., Feb. 15, 1905; pneumonia; native of Wythe Co., Va.

ELIZA F. MITCHELL born Gloucester Co., Va., June 3, 1821; daughter of Joseph Smith, son of Capt. Frank Smith; she married John. D. Mitchell of Abingdon, Va. at the age of 15 years; survived by one dau., four sons; her deceased daughters, Mrs. H. C. Neal, Mrs. L. T. Cosby, Miss Mollie C. Mitchell. She died Sept. 10, 1905

WILLIAM SPILLER FINDLAY born Abingdon, Va., Sept. 16, 1828; graduate, Emory-Henry College and attended medical school in Philadelphia, Pa.; married Isabella Conk, Jonesville, Va., May 9, 1855; later moved to Tenn.; served in Confederate army; practiced medicine in Sparta, Tenn.; died Jan. 16, 1908.

ROBERT CAMPBELL JONES born Washington Co., Va., Dec. 27, 1829; died Memphis, Tenn., April 2, 1908; when young moved to eastern Arkansas; married Anna Allan Sale, Fayette Co., Tenn., Dec. 1860; no children; Confederate veteran; served in the Arkansas legislature; farmer; contributed liberally to church causes.

RACHEL BRANCH CARRIGER daughter of William and Mary Buchanan; born Washington Co., Va., Feb. 18, 1878; married Wesley C. Carriger, Emory, Va., July 4, 1907; died October 14, 1910.
