Cunnyngham; entered the Holston Conference as a preacher in 1843 but in 1852 went to China as one of the missionaries in the church's mission there; returned to the States and taught at Science Hill Academy in Shelbyville, Ky.; moved to Abingdon, Va., where he was a pastor; professor in Martha Washington College for several years and later preacher in Knoxville, Tenn.; retired in 1894.
