Know
all men by these presents that I Henry DAVISON of Reedsborough in the County
of Bennington and State of Vermont being Colector of a Land tax of one
pinny on Each name on all the Land in said Reedsborough publics Land Exemted
in Conilstance with an act of the State passed by the Legislature in November
1793 granting a tax of one penny on Each acre on all the Land in s’d Reedsborough
publics Land excepted having for the Collection of s’d tax and the Defraying
of Legal Cost passed Every Nesary meony provided by the land of this State
having in my capacity afore s’d found in Consideration of the Sum of Six
Dollars to me in hand paid before the Delivery hereof by Throop CHAPMAN
of the afores’d Reedsborough have given granted bargained sold and by these
presents Convey and Confirm unto him the said Throop CHAPMAN his heirs
and assigns forever the following peace or parcel of land Lying and being
in Reedsborough aforesaid viz: the whole of ?? No. Two estimated at four
hundred acres be the Same more or Less the Said tax having Not Ben paid
or tendered before the Date hereof to have and to hold the said granted
and Bargained premises unto him the said Throop CHAPMAN his heirs and assigns
forever to his and their own proper benefit and behoof forever I hereby
Engage in my Capasity aforesaid to warrant ?? and Defend the said granted
and Bargained premises to him the s’d Throop CHAPMAN his heirs and assigns
against the Lawfull Claims and Demands of any person or persons whatsoever
Claiming from by or under me on the original propertie tax in writing where
of I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this Seventeenth Day of June One
thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Six
