deed from
Asbury Sanders

Montpelier, WashingtonCounty, Vt

March 10, 1840

       Know all men by these present that I Asbury Sanders of Montpelier in Washington County and State of Vermont for the consideration of $100.00 paid to me full satisfaction by Sarah Sanders of Montpelier in Washington County and State of Vermont, have given granted bargained and sold and hereby do freely give grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Sarah her heirs and assigns forever: a certain piece of land in Montpelier described as follows (??) Lot. No 1(?) first Division of lands in said town being the same this day deeded to me the said Asbury by Josiah Batchelder (??) Reference to the deed of (??)  Batchelder (??)  (??) Asbury for description.  To Have and To Hold said granted premises with all the privileges and appurtenances thereof to the said Sarah her heirs and assigns to her and their heirs own use and behoof forever.  And I the said Asbury my heirs Executors and Administrators do covenant with the said Sarah that until the unsealing these presents I am sole owner of the premises and have good right and (??) to convey the same in manner aforesaid that they are free from every incumbrance: and I hereby engage the Warrant defend the same against all lawful (??) Whatever.  The condition of this deed is to secure the payment of a Note of even date with these presents signed by Asbury Sanders (??) payed to Sarah Sanders for the sum of $200.00 $50.00 in one year $50.00 in two years, $50.00 in three years (??) 50.00 in four years with Interest.  Now if said Notes is paid according to the (??) thereof then this Obligation to be void. 

In Witness Whereof I here unto set my hand and seal this 10 day of March 1840.
