Sheffield village was the only village ever established within the town of Sheffield.
It should be noted that Town Clerks as a rule no longer will perform research but will assist researchers when they visit the town offices.

The society archives are housed at the Municipal Building. The 1847 Town House Museum is open Saturday during the summer from 11:00 Am to 3:00 PM or weekdays by appointment. Displays include early Sheffield life, Civil War soldiers of Sheffield, maps on the old cemeteries, and the school districts in 1875. Inquiries for private tours or genealogy are welcome.
Census reporting ends with the 1820 census. There were over 50 separate items of data gathered in the 1830 census. That fact and that names are not in alphabetical order make it impractical to report later years.
