Historic Schools

These schools are no longer within the Sutton School System yet many of the buildings may still exist and may have been renovated as homes. The locations were derived from old topographical maps. To make the values compatible with many GPS Trackers, coordinates have been recalculated to decimal degrees.

The Forbes School was located on the Burke Hill Road about one and nine-tenths miles east of Sutton Village.

Highland School    Click for location map

From Sutton village, go north on Underpass Road about four and two-tenths miles. The school was located on the left.

Maple Lane School    Click for location map

The Maple Lane School was located on the Wheelock Road about one and nine-tenths miles from Sutton Village.

Mountain View School    Click for location map

From Sutton village, go north on Underpass Road about three quarters mile. Turn left onto King George Road and go about one and three tenths miles to the intersection of Morey Road. The school was located here.

North Ridge School    Click for location map

The North Ridge School was located on Cross Road. From Sutton village, go north on Station Road. Cross US Route 5 onto Michaud Drive and go about six tenths mile to the intersection of North Ridge Road. Turn left and go about nine tenths mile to Cross Road on the left. Turn left and go about three tenths mile. The school would have been on the left. According to the note from the back of the photo, the building was razed in 1915.

Outlook School    Click for location map

The Outlook School was located on Pudding Hill Road about one and four tenths mile south of Calendar Brook Road.

Sunset School    Click for location map

From Sutton village, go south on Center Street to Sheffield Road. Turn right and go about one and one half miles to Woods Hill Road. Keep left on Woods Hill Road and the school was located about 600 feet on the right.

The old Sutton Village School was replaced by the new school in Sutton village near the Town Offices.
