Francois Martin-Pelland was a lieutenant in the American army during the Revolution. He died c. l778 in New York state. His widow remarried to another French-Canadian officer, Felix-Victor Caseneuve, and after the war returned to Berthier, where the second marriage was rehabilitated and the American-born children of both marriages were baptized.
In the paternal line, there is also a Revolutionary soldier, but one who fought on the other side as a German mercenary soldier for the British forces: he was a member of the Anhalt-Zerbst Regiment.

Two other Camaraire men were in Clinton Co., NY: namely Hilaire Cameraire married to Henriette Maher/Mahaire/Myers (they had several children baptized at Coopersville) and Jean-Baptiste Camaraire who married on 9 January 1860 at St. Peter's, Plattsburgh, to Mathilda Boucher. Their parentage has not been determined.
Of this family, the immigrants to Grand Isle Co., Vermont, were Jean-Moise Camaraire and his wife Marie-Francoise Valois. Baptisms for some of their children were located at Berthier and St-Cuthbert.

She was b. c. 1830/32/Feb. 1833/34, Canada or Vt., probably dau. of Louis Lajeunesse/Young and Clothilde Guignard/Dignard. To U.S. 1849. 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900 censuses, Grand Isle, Vt. Charlotte stated that her parents were born in Vt. and N.Y. respectively: for her probable lineage, see under Young.
They leased land on Butler's Island. In the 1880 census with Joseph Cameron, age 1 year, grandson, in their household. According to the 1910 census, Charlotte bore 14 children.

SHELDON SPRINGS. The funeral of William Sweeney, who died suddenly of bronchial asthma, was held at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic church in this place Saturday morning, October 18, at 11 o'clock. Among those people from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John M. Sweeney and little son, John Jr., of Springfield, N.J., Leon B. Sweeney, of Baltusrol, N.J., Mrs. Z. Sweeney, and Mr. and Mrs. G.E. Palmer, of Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cross, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Barkyounb, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sweeney, of Fairfax, Mr. and Mrs. Jed Sweeney, of St. Albans town, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sweeney, of St. Albans. The members of the Catholic Order of Foresters of Highgate and of the Holy Name Society of this place attended the funeral in a body. Mr. Sweeney was born at St. Albans Bay November 29, 1857, and lived there until 1873 when he went to Barre where he attended Goddard Seminary. After finishing his course in Goddard Seminary he went to North Hero where he was employed as clerk in the store of James Dodge until he married Lydia Delia Dewell February 12, 1877. After his marriage he lived for some time on Butler's island. From there he moved to Winthrop, N.Y., where he made his home until 1892 when he moved to Georgia. In 1898 he purchased the farm of Mrs. Martha F. Hazard in Sheldon where he lived until his death October 16. Mr. Sweeney was a member of the Columbus Court, No. 167, Catholic Order of Foresters of Highgate. He was also an active member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic church, of Sheldon Springs. Beside his wife (Lydia Dwell) Sweeney, Mr. Sweeney is survived by eight children, William Charles Sweeney, of Lakeside, John M., of Springfield, N.J., Leon B., of Baltusrol, N.Y., Arthur L., of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Merinda M., of St. Albans, Mrs. George S. Baker, of St. Albans town, Martha A. and Lena M., both of this place. He is also survived by his mother, one sister, and three brothers.
