FRIEND (FRESN) FAMILY

With all the specific place references given in the Vermont

records for this family, it should have been easy to find.

However, neither the printed _repertoires_ of Napierville

and Laprairie Cos. published by Benoit Pontbriand nor that

of St. Chrysostome published by Joy Reisinger contains

references to this family. At St-Remi in Napierville Co., Quebec, however, three

children of Alexis Fresne and Felicite Beauchamp marry in

the period 1846-63. Anyone seriously interested in the

family should probably start by checking the baptismal

registers there, but given the tendency of the family to

marry outside the French-Canadian group, it is entirely

possible that it was Protestant.
