2012 Events Calendar

March 1st - St. David's Day around the world.

April 12-14, 2012 - Cleveland, Ohio - "History and Genealogy: Finding Clues to Ancestral Lives" Annual Conference of The Ohio Genealogical Society at Cleveland, Ohio in the Intercontinental Hotel, 9801 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio.  OGS will be celebrating the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 with a Thursday luncheon.  Details will be posted, when available, at www.ogs.org .

September Labor Day weekend, 2012 - Scranton, Pennsylvania - 81st North American Welsh Gymanfa Ganu and Festival of Wales at Scranton, Pennsylvania - a gathering of the Welsh from around the globe : details found at the WNGGA website as well as at www.ninnau.com .

Editor's Note: For those having Welsh ancestry through various communities near any cymanfa site, these events offer a great opportunity to vacation and enjoy the Welsh cultural event while also making time to visit those communities in your ancestral tree.  For the National event, plan a week to tour your ancestors’ villages and then add four days to your plans to attend the cymanfa activities.  For information about local gymanfa ganu and fellowship events sponsored by Welsh societies around the world, visit the Calendar of Events at www.ninnau.com .

The following listing of venues of past cymanfa events sponsored by the Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu Association provides a historical view of where the strong concentrations of Welsh patrons have gathered to celebrate.  Most of these sites are also regions where the Welsh have resided in large numbers.  Double click here - Welsh National Gymanfa Ganu Venues for details.  For more information on finding Welsh communities, visit our WhereAreTheWelsh pages.
