- COMMENTS on Windham County Search Experiences:
- Marilyn: National Archives are in one
word SLOW. However, it is wonderful to be able to order forms
online and have them arrive in less than a week.

- COMMENTS on Windham County Experiences:
- Cheryl: I had requested a
birth cert. of my grandfather, they sent me one, Wrong name, but
close. I sent it back. They said because there was a no refund. I
would have to request another search and another fee. They were fast
but very disappointing.
- Marilyn: About Vital Records of VT. I have
used the State Archives and they had 3 out of 10 things that I
wanted but had to pay for the Search of all 10 things.
I prefer writing to Town Clerks, as personally I like the copies
of the old documents better than the "official" form. I
have had a great deal of success with the Vt Town Clerks in Weston,
Londonderry, Andover, Rutland, and many others. My ancestors went to
VT after the Revolution -- and one was there before - and my
grandfather was born in VT, so I have lots of Vermonters. The Town
Clerks are not real fast, but I know they are busy, and I have been
extremely happy with information from them. The problem is that
these Vermonters seemed to move around all the time so you need to
write to many Town Clerks. It is common to be born in one town,
married in another, and died in a third. And children are born in
different towns also.
