FROM: PatB on DATE-Feb 15, 2007 3:40:54 GMT-DATE MESSAGE: Good evening Steve. Looks like our rain is back - trying to make up for lost time maybe. FROM: PatB on DATE-Feb 15, 2007 3:40:23 GMT-DATE MESSAGE: I see we've had some busy folks working on this project! Glad to see that Barbara could access the GenChat area o.k. with Nancy's Mac suggestions. FROM: Joy on DATE-Feb 15, 2007 20:03:41 GMT-DATE MESSAGE: My suggestion for Barbara would be to order William R Harpers Civil War Pension file from the National Archives. The cost is $37 for the complete file. It may contain proof of marriage, birth information, etc. For the widows portion of the file there would be information on Louisa. It's possible that there could be information about his family as well. National Archives: https://eservices.archives.gov/orderonline/ FROM: barbaraL on DATE-Feb 13, 2007 3:35:43 GMT-DATE MESSAGE: I have some pure speculation which may be worth nothing. Louise seems to have never given the same birth date twice! In 1870 we find William and Ellen Garrett in the same household. Who were they if not siblings of Louise? That is something to research. If her b. date was 1854, she would have been about 16 and maybe too young to actually marry William who was much older and a hired hand?. The obit says she came to Clark Co. "with her husband" in 1878. Maybe they actually came in 1877 and married there which we then have a record of. If there really was a 7th child born to her, who was it? I remember Grandpa Rufus' death well. My mom may have given out the name Jewett as a guess since she probably had no way of knowing the correct spelling. How do I get myself, my siblings and cousins and all our children listed? We are all still alive but one. Many of us are in the "Simpson Connection" through Clella Harper - wife of Rufus. What is a good way to share the pictures I have of the Harper cabin,Amos,Ira,William, Siegel, Ralph, Rufus and their wives? FROM: barbaraL on DATE-Feb 12, 2007 23:09:17 GMT-DATE MESSAGE: This is us!! AMONG TOPICS WE WILL DISCUSS THIS WEEK: (If you have help for this, please post it ahead of time in GenChat.) Barbara Lemoine is a great granddaughter of William and Louise Harper. Both are buried in the Manor Wilson Bridge Cemetery. William R. Harper b. 1835 & d. 1893; Louisa Jane, his wife, b. 1855 & d. 1906. She was wondering if we have any leads on how to trace back from them, Barbara says, "I would love to hear from you." She's also wondering if Charles V. Harper, also buried in same cemetery might be their son. He was b. 1881 & d. 1862. He's buried with Katie L. Harper b. 1884 & d. 1968. Let's see if we can help Barbara this week!
