Basin City, Franklin, Washington
As you travel north of the Tri-Cities, you’ll find Basin City located within the rolling, grass-covered hills of eastern Washington. Early on, this area was a thoroughfare for trappers, Indians and explorers of the Columbia Basin. Due to lack of rainfall however, most of these early travelers moved on to greener land. Basin City saw incredible growth during the early 1950s as large-scale irrigation was introduced to the area through the government sponsored Columbia Basin Project, which received water through the Grand Coulee Dam. The newly available water turned sagebrush and tumbleweeds into beautiful, productive land. These irrigation pioneers of the area turned Basin City into a great place to raise a family and enjoy the great American dream.
