age and can prove lineal blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in
achieving American independence.
- Becoming A Member
- Admission to membership in the DAR is by invitation, either through a Chapter
in your State Organization (or Unit Overseas) or as a Member-At-Large. No
Chapter may discriminate against an applicant on the basis of race or creed.
Once the invitation to membership has been extended, the applicant must complete
an application for membership form. She must provide documentation for each
statement of birth, marriage and death on her application. This shall include
the applicant's birth certificate naming her parents. This applies to "new
ancestors" and to previously accepted lineages for which documentation was not
required at the time they were submitted. The National Society reserves the right to
determine the acceptability of all proofs/documentation submitted with an application.
