Benefits
When you join the Seattle Genealogical Society, your membership helps to support the SGS research library, SGS publications, and a wide range of educational activities and events sponsored by SGS.

Research Library: The SGS library has an outstanding genealogical collection: some of the materials are not available elsewhere in the west. SGS makes available books, pamphlets, periodicals, and data CD's for researching various parts of the United States and other countries as well. Computers and a wireless Internet connection are also available for researchers.  Periodically, the Society publishes resource materials.  Members are encouraged to visit the library often, to share their skills and expertise, to meet new people and expand their own genealogical horizons. All members of SGS have unlimited access to the library.

Semi-annual Bulletin: The Society publishes a semi-annual Bulletin which includes original articles, research aids, queries, vital records, special interest group contributions and ancestor surname files.

Society Newsletter and Mailing List: A Newsletter is published regularly to keep members advised of upcoming events, both in the Society and elsewhere in the area.  Members who provide a current email address are added to the Rootsweb mailing list WA-SGS-MEMBERS-L and will receive email reminders about upcoming SGS events and information.

Special Interest Groups: SGS researchers with mutual genealogical interests and desiring an opportunity to exchange information on a regular basis, may form a special interest group (SIG) within the Society. Through the years, these groups have formed and disbanded according to member interest. These groups have sponsored many significant projects, programs and seminars for SGS.

Seminars, Programs and Classes:  Nationally recognized speakers are invited once or twice a year to conduct SGS-sponsored seminars on a variety of subjects of interest to family historians.  Members are invited to monthly Program meetings September - May, and special quarterly events such as the Holiday Open House and Book Sale in December and the Annual meeting in June.

Library Shop:  Genealogical instruction and resource books, forms, and charts are available for purchase at the library during open hours. The Society publishes and sells various research aids, including family group sheets, ancestor charts and census forms.
