This
obituary for SIGS member Geri BUCHMEIER was published in the Everett
Herald on March 2, 2008.
Geri was born at
home on an Indiana farm on February 15, 1913. She passed away in her
favorite place, Edmonds, WA. on February 23, 2008. The years in between
were full and eventful.
She
qualified as
a Registered Nurse, endured the years of WWII with her husband
overseas, raised six children, was widowed early, and later earned a
University Degree at age sixty. Geri was a resident of Edmonds for 50
years.
Until her
health
failed in recent years, Geri was very active and involved in her
community. She was a member of the Stevens Hospital Foundation,
American Association of University Women, Friends of the Edmonds
Library, Edmonds Library Board, Sno-Isle Genealogical Society, Edmonds
Music and Art Club, Edmonds Art Festival, Campfire, District 15 PTA and
the Edmonds United Methodist Church. She enthusiastically volunteered
at the Physician Finders Info Line, R.S.V.P. and the Senior Foot Care
Clinic.
She is
survived
by her children, Barbara ROSTAD (Tom), Tom BUCHMEIER (Barbara), John
BUCHMEIER (Darla), Mike BUCHMEIER (Nancy), and Phil BUCHMEIER
(Rosemary); 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She
will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Joseph A. BUCHMEIER, MD; and her son, William BUCHMEIER.
