Researching "from away" can be difficult, time-consuming AND frustrating. The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society receives many requests for look-ups and records searches; we would like to help you as much as we can.Don't forget to include a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope!
"Send me everything you have on the ROBE Family"SIGS is happy to do look-ups from the Society's library holdings. Check our ONLINE CATALOG, and include in your request the name of the book, the author or "spine label code" and the surname of your target individual. If you're "snail-mailing" your request, PLEASE enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a check to cover the cost of photocopies (PLEASE don't send cash!) If you're emailing your look-up request, the SIGS researcher will let you know the photocopy fee.
"Send me the obituary of EDWARD DOCKENDORFF - I think he died sometime between 1900 and 1920, and I'm not sure WHERE he lived in Snohomish County"SIGS researchers can check the library's Obituary Collection for your target individual, but a journey up to the Everett Public Library (or wherever) to examine archived newspapers will require a research charge.
"Send me the marriage record (or death record, or will) for VICTOR JOHNSON - he lived somewhere near Bothell in 1920"If the record you're looking for is not in the SIGS collection, a SIGS researcher MAY be able to track down that record for you. Again, a research charge will be applied. Be sure to discuss fees and other charges with the researcher before he/she begins the search.
