RESEARCH REQUESTS and LOOK-UPS

Researching "from away" can be difficult, time-consuming AND frustrating.  The Sno-Isle Genealogical Society receives many requests for look-ups and records searches;  we would like to help you as much as we can.

"Send me everything you have on the ROBE Family"

SIGS is happy to do look-ups from the Society's library holdings.  Check our ONLINE CATALOG, and include in your request the name of the book, the author's name, the Call Number and the surname of your Target Individual.  If you're mailing your request, PLEASE enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a check to cover the cost of photocopies (don't send cash!)  If you're emailing your look-up request, the SIGS researcher will let you know the photocopy fee.

"I really need the obituary of EDWARD DOCKENDORFF - I think he died sometime between 1900 and 1920, and I'm pretty sure he lived somewhere in Snohomish County or maybe Skagit County"

SIGS researchers can check the library's Obituary Collection for your Target Individual, but a journey up to the Everett Public Library (or wherever) to examine archived newspapers will require a research charge.

"Can you find the marriage record (or death record, or will) for VICTOR JOHNSON - supposedly, he lived somewhere near Bothell in the 1920s; I have no idea when or where he was born or when or where he died"

If the record you're looking for is not in the SIGS collection, a SIGS researcher MAY be able to track down that record for you.  Be sure to include in your request all of the information that you DO have for your Target Individual;  your SIGS researcher will appreciate your making a list of the places you've already searched.  Again, a research charge MAY be applied.  Be sure to discuss fees and other charges with the researcher before he/she begins the search.

Requests for Look-Up can be emailed to SIGS (AT) alderwood.org, with LOOKUPS as the message header.  Mail requests should be sent to
