On January 7, 2009 at 12:30 or 1 PM Sagers on College Way (following the board meeting) Appreciation to outgoing President (Hazel Rasar) & Secretary (Barbara Johnson), as well as Lorraine Rothenbuhler, Donna Hinds and Joan Udd who are leaving the board. We wish to show them our appreciation for the volunteer service they have done for the society!

  • No General Meeting in December. Members are invited/encouraged to attend the Board Meeting on the 3rd of December at 10 AM. Board meetings are also held at the Burlington Community Senior Center, if you don't see us just ask for directions at the front desk.

  • The Blog is up and running. I am adding authors daily from our membership roster and should have all members in as authors by 11/22/08. If you have an email address listed you will be getting your login ID and password soon. Use this link to submit an entry.

  • The Obituary Name Index File is live on-line. Find hard to find obituaries while supporting your local genealogical society at the same time. Over 27,000 names and currently running through December 2006. UPDATED April 2007

    The Skagit Valley Genealogical Society was founded in Mount Vernon, Washington in January 1987. This society is a nonprofit, non-sectarian organization open to all persons interested in genealogical and historical research in Skagit County. We are located in Northwest Washington State, approximately 50 miles South of the Canadian border and 60 miles North of Seattle. Current membership exceeds 135 members.

    The Skagit Valley Genealogical Society goals and objectives are an inherent part of our organization.

  • To promote an interest in genealogy through education
  • To encourage and instruct members in genealogical research
  • To locate, preserve and index public and private genealogical records
  • To publish genealogical and historical information for Skagit County
  • To promote the use of appropriate documentation of family history
