What are Queries?
Queries, in genealogical publications, have traditionally been similar to classified ads. They are short paragraphs, with specific details about a person or family, usually complete with a specific question or "query" about that person or family. These days, queries are published in magazines, newsletters, journals, newspapers, e-mail mailing lists and on web sites. The queries found here on the TPCGS web site are submitted by members and non-members who have research in this area of the world. The queries submitted are published in the society's quarterly and on this web site. If you are looking for research help besides this type of query, see the following pages for further options:

CLAIR, HOLST
Looking for info on Ruby (CLAIR) HOLST; she was b in Williams Co., ND, dau of William E. CLAIR and Avie M. GODDARD; Ruby was m to Arthur HOLST for awhile. In 1940 she is listed in the Tacoma City directory at 5908 Fawcett Avenue (no Arthur). In the 1941 directory she is listed as a teacher. From 1942 until 1951 Arthur and Ruby are together. In 1953 Ruby is alone and in 1956 she disappears from the directories; from obituaries of some of her siblings, I believe she was will alive as late as 1978. There is an obit for Arthur W. HOLST (b 4 July 1905, d Dec 1984 Tacoma), stating that he was a lifelong res of Tacoma and was survived by wi Helen. Need info on m of Arthur HOLST and Ruby CLAIR (1925-1940?) and/or record of div (1952/3). Any details welcome.

Seek info on George R. LINDNER (b ca 1901/2) and Pearl HOUSTON (b 1891-1892, Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA). Their twins (Betty Gale and Earnest Hale LINDER) were b 14 June 1925. Their adoption on 10 Mar 1926 was witnessed by Myrtle I. VAN BEVERS and L. C. HOUSTON in Pierce Co., WA. At the time of the adoption Pearl HOUSTON was using the surname WEBB and had 5 other living ch; on 5 Nov 1926 was living at the home of a sister at 424 E. 43rd St. in Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA.

Otto KEGEL moved from Detroit, MI and res in Seattle in 1920 with wi Margaret and two daughters, Gretchen and Barbara, before moving to Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA where Otto owned Kegel's Furniture Store. His first wi apparently died and he m ca 1942 Victorine (--?--). Otto KEGEL d in 1966 and is buried in Detroit, MI. Victorine may have d in Tacoma. Need help!

Charles A. PHILHOUR (b Dec 1867 OH) m ca 1890 Katharine B. (--?--) according to the 1910 Census. In April 1891 their s Charles Walter PHILHOUR was b in Washington state. Other ch were Francis (Frank) L. (b Feb 1893 WA ) and Helen A. (b Oct 1894 WA). Charles A. may have been working for a railroad in WA, possibly as an apprentice. In 1900 and 1910 Census the entire fam was res in Pueblo, CO, with Charles listed as a railarod locomotive engineer. Does anyone know where this fam might have res in WA when the ch were b? SLOVAKIAN RECORDS
Is anyone researching from old Roman Catholic and/or Evangelical Lutheran in Slovakia where church records were filmed by LDS? Area I am reseaching includes surnames of families who were members of St. Joseph's Slovak Catholic Church on So. 34th and G Street and from St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church on So. 27th/Tacoma Ave., both in Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA. Am looking for further info on Chauncey PETERMAN who worked for a newspaper agency in Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA; the paper was The Tacoma Times. Am looking for a newspaper obituary that was reported to have been on the front page. Chauncey was reported to have been the first Agriculture Secretary in Washington state in his later years.

Their ch: Martha Mable (1875), Ruth Vasti (Jan 1876), Alma Pearl (1878), Ella (1882), and Ada Bernice (Dec 1893).

CEDERBERG, KLAHN
Am researching Edith E. CEDERBERG (d 13 Jan 1904 at 24 yrs, 7 mo 16 days). She is subject to old memorial album passed through the KLAHN family of Forks, WA. Most of the pictures in the album were taken by Aaberg Photography (1128 Pacific Ave., Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA); other pictures were taken by Wagness and Sather (947 C St., Tacoma). The album was apparently contructed in Singapore and contains pictures of men in uniform taken by a photographer in Singapore. Those who might have been able to identify Edith CEDERBERG have passed away. Any help appreciated.

Seek info on family and desc of Carl BUEGE (b Feb 1861 Germany, d 1920-1938) who m Adelia HAMPEL (b Dec 1865 in Silesia, Prussia, d 17 Mar 1943 at Tacoma, Pierce Co., WA) 29 May 1885 in Petawawa Twp. Renfrew Co., Ontario, Canada. The family moved from Canada to Washington poss 1893, first settling in Winlock and Chehalis. They had 4 known ch: Anna (Feb 1886), Charles (Dec 1887, d 30 Aug 1960 Tacoma), Emma (May 1890) who m Frank KRUEGER/KROGER, and Walter (b 6 Aug 1900 WA, d 15 Dec 1974 at Seattle, WA). According to Walter's obit, he was the father of Marlene A. MILLS of Beaverton, OR.
