What are Queries?
Queries, in genealogical publications, have traditionally been similar to classified ads. They are short paragraphs, with specific details about a person or family, usually complete with a specific question or "query" about that person or family. These days, queries are published in magazines, newsletters, journals, newspapers, e-mail mailing lists and on web sites. The queries found here on the TPCGS web site are submitted by members and non-members who have research in this area of the world. ROBERTS, WHITALL, VAN NESS
James Edward ROBERTS and wife, Melissa Jan WHITALL or VAN NESS, moved their family to Washington about 1911 from Iowa. He was a longshoreman, avid fisherman and hunter. "Ed" was b. 1882-84 in IA, and d. 1957 in WA. Melissa was b. 9/22/1884 in Mendota, MO and d. 10/15/1972 in Tacoma WA. Their only daughter was Lucille E. Roberts BROOKS: b. IA 1902; d. 1975 WA. Would appreciate any information or suggestions for locating descendants, obituaries, cemeteries, etc.

My great-grandfather, Charles BEST, was a cook at the Pierce County Farm for 20 years. I would appreciate any information concerning what the farm was and did. My great-grandfather died February 5, 1930 at Pierce County Hospital and was cremated July 16, 1930 at Tacoma General Hospital. His doctor was Barton A. Brown, M.D.

DELZEL, CHAMBERS
Latitia DELZEL, said to be a cousin of President Andrew Jackson, was the first wife of JUDGE THOMAS McCUTCHEON CHAMBERS, one of the settlers of the Steilacoom area. They married in Ireland in 1816. Latitia was born August 15, 1795, and died in Steilacoom on September 17, 1852. Children included James W., David J., Andrew Jackson, Mary Jane (d. S. Tacoma 1918), John, Thompson McLain (d. Roy 1916), and Latitia Ann. Would appreciate help investigating the Andrew Jackson connection.

TRIEST
Seeking information on an F. TRIEST, b. about 1881 in California. Employed as a city
(traveling) salesman for a Portland firm, he was working in Tacoma around October 1909. Suggestions for researching would be appreciated.

Searching for someone who has access to the Niederbronn, Alsace research materials of FRIEDA KRUEGER EWING who lived at one time in Sumner, WA. She submitted some of her data to the LDS, where I found it in the IGI.

MURPHY
Looking for Charles Richard (Dick) MURPHY. He was born February, 1888
in Chippewa Falls, Chippewa, Wisconsin. Arrived in Washington State about 1918-19, after his brother, John William MURPHY settled here. Dick had a tavern in either Roy or Yelm. We can't seem to find where he died or when. Any help would be appreciated.

VICKS
Seeking descendants of Ole and Charlotte Marie VICKS. Married in Norway in May 1883, this couple eventually settled in Tacoma. Children included Carolyn, Daniel (Donny) (d. in Tacoma 1953), Ingwald, Clara Daubenspeck, Odin, and Teddy. I am Odin's g'daughter.

EMMS, THOMPSON
Seeking relatives and info on James EMMS, b. April 4, 1863 and d. Sept 7 1930. Known to have resided in Tacoma in 1904 with brother, William Robert EMMS and his wife, Annetta Elizabeth THOMPSON. This couple was married in Little Current, Ontario, Canada. Annetta died in 1913, and William in 1916. I am William & Annetta g'g'daughter.
