2009 Queries

What are Queries?
Queries, in genealogical publications, have traditionally been similar to classified ads. They are short paragraphs, with specific details about a person or family, usually complete with a specific question or "query" about that person or family. These days, queries are published in magazines, newsletters, journals, newspapers, e-mail mailing lists and on web sites. The queries found here on the TPCGS web site are submitted by members and non-members who have research in this area of the world. The queries submitted are published in the society's quarterly and on this web site. If you are looking for research help besides this type of query, see the following pages for further options:

To Respond to Queries:

Please write to the mailing address or e-mail address given for the individual who posted the query in each section. Please mention that you found the query on this TPCGS web site.

To Submit Queries:

Any society member may submit queries for publication in The Newsletter and on the society's web site. Non-members who are doing research in the Tacoma-Pierce County area prior to 1930 may send queries which will be published at the discretion of the Queries Editor. You must include your full mailing address, as well as your e-mail address if appropriate. Send queries only by postal mail or e-mail to:/

HANSDATTER, PEDERSEN
I am trying to find out what happened to Hanna Eline Hansdatter (b. 04 Aug 1861, in Ibestad,Troms, Norway) and Tolley Normann Pedersen (b. 1854, in Oh, Lavangen, Troms, Norway). Both emigrated from Ibestad, Norway, in 1889. They lived in Tacoma, WA, but appear to vanish thereafter. I'm trying to find out what happened to these two residents and whether they had any children. Any help would be appreciated.

TESSIER
I am looking for info on the first born daughter of George Allen Tessier. He emigrated from Canada before 1900. I have a picture of the family and on the back it says Vaughn Bay, Washington. I am guessing she married or died before the 1900 census as she is not listed with the family.

Looking for information about my great aunt Minnie Stark (nee Cowell) b. 1882/83- d. 1958. She moved from Lapeer City, Michigan, to Tacoma.

ANDERSON, TELLEFSEN
I am seeking information about Richard Beatty Anderson, b. 1921, Tacoma – d. 1944, Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. A destroyer was named in his honor. The surnames that I am interested in are Tellefsen and Anderson. I have a photo of some family members at the christening of the ship in Washington in 1945. I am hoping for help with the identification of people in the photograph and of course any family history.

RICHARDS/ DOUGLAS/ GOODRICH
I am looking for information about my biological great grandmother, Marie Douglas.  My grandmother, LaDonna Camille Richards (b. Donna Camille Douglas) was born to Marie Douglas on 9 May 1917 at the Home for Unwed Mothers in Tacoma, WA.  There is an associated name I've found in the birth record of Donna Camille Douglas, Norman Goodrich.  I do not know how this gentleman was involved, but he is marked as the father of Donna Camille Douglas.
