O.K. Here is the gist of what I would like to see as we pass on each family (i.e. decided we don't know any more). First, let me note that we are still missing source citations for some of the important events. James Wells (1) b: Cir 1640 England; m: Unknown d: bef. 22 Feb 1681/2[1] Children: 1. His wife's name may have been Thornborough as one of the children of Rowland Thornborough was named Catherine and Joseph became their guardian when Richard died in 1696 {NEED Source Citation for this!} 3. Stephen Wells b: Cir 1674 (est.) ; m: ; d: . Only connection is that name Stephen Wells appears in the household of James Todd in the list of Taxables, North Side Patapsco Hundred, Baltimore Co. in 1695. James Todd later was the grantor on a deed to John Wells in 1698. {NEED sources for both of these!} 4. [9] James Wells first shows as a taxable in 1692 in the household of John Thomas {Need source citation for this!} [10] Children of James Wells and Ann ____ are recorded in the parish register of St. Paul's Parish {NEED source citation} Note: Here is a thought for you. Most family researchers seem to be inclined to believe that Joseph Wells married Catherine Thornborough, daughter of Rowland Thornborough who had become his charge following the death of her father. It has always puzzled me why he would have taken on the guardianship of children that were not related in some way already. I also have problems understanding why a single man would undertake the guardianship of minor children in the first place. I suspect that he was already married. What if, instead of having married the daughter of Rowland Thornborough, he was Rowland's brother-in-law? That is, we see no daughters indicated for James (1). What if he had at least one daughter and she married Rowland Thornborough? Second option is that his wife was a sister to Rowland Thornborough or his wife. Has anyone researched the Thornborough family prior to Rowland?
