"Mary Wells ,relict of James Wells ,deceased, and Richard Mitchell, of Talbot Co., Planter(MD) Both Admix of James Wells, signed an indenture' with John Howell, of Stockton on Tease in Bishopric of Durham, Kingdom of England, mariner James Wells had surveyed for him on 25 Nov,1683 a parcel of land called "Howell's Lott" situated on a tract called "Dundee" formerly laid out for James Wells, containing 1,000 acres. Wells, before his death, sold the tract to Howell for 10,000 lbs.. of Tobacco. However, Wells died without having surveyed the land. Thomas Welles (1678-1732) oldest son of James Wells and Mary (Roades) Wells later conveyed this tract Farmer Elsworth in [DeedsKT E:296 & B:41] to Mark Malone who sold part of it (Spring Branch White Marsh 311 acres including improvements made.) to John Hunter in 1735. [DeedsKT S:136] DSA

Whereas William Rhodes, b 24 May 1666 who married Mary Hunter, only daughter surviving of John Hunter, She is now the present owner of Spring Branch White Marsh 311 acres. William Rhodes (brother of Mary Roades), wishes to take conveyance from Rachael (Wells) Humphries (1705-1789) wife of Alex Humphries ( ) and Dau of John Wells (1682-1721),who is brother of Thomas Wells (1678-1732). She being the only surviving child of John Wells son of James Wells and John Wells may be intitled to 1/3 land of James Welles. (FARMER ELSWORTH)

John Wells son of James Wells left will 1732 [A:5.231] & [WillsKT D1:46] naming children Rachel, James and John, but only Rachel wife of Alex Humphreys survived. And she has some claim to Ellsworth.

Whereas on 30 March 1681 land WORCESTER (part of Ellsworth) [DeedsKT B:47 1681] was surveyed for Thomas Hodgskin, North side of Murther Creek 350 acres, & Bishops Branch (part of Ellsworth) (350 acres) [DeedsKT E:296] and Thomas Hodgskin then conveyed WORCHESTER and BISHOPS Branch by deed 16 Sept 1684 to James Wells father of Thomas and John Wells (B:47). And Thomas Wells next deeded in 1721 to Andrew Caldwell, and Andrew Caldwell deeded then in 1722 to John Rhodes.(1620-1680)

Now William Rhodes (1666-1685) son of John Rhodes (dec'd) wants to unite the two tracts of Fomer (Farmer) Elsworth (Spring Branch White Marsh 311) acres and remainder of FARMER ELSWORTH now called WORCHESTER 350 acres and including BISHOPS BRANCH acres 350) and to take conveyance of both together From Rachel Humphreys."
