Henry Wells born 17 May 1756 in Sussex County, DE. Served in Continental
Army for 5 years. Discharged Sept. 1781. Married Mrs.
Elizabeth Hemans
Beach in or before 1790. She had a son
Jeremiah Wells and a son
James Wells,
born 1791 Sussex Co. DE. There was also a
Sarah Wells who married a
Hitchcock, but
don't know if she was a Beach or a Wells.
This information came from research by my late aunt, but I don't know where
she got it. I would like to know how to confirm information.
Supposedly, Henry's father also served in the army, but spelled his name
Wales.
Can anyone confirm or dispute this? Also, how would I find more about
Henry's father?

Henry/Isaac Wells
My WELLS ancestors came from Jackson County, Mississippi. One or some
of them came to Mississippi from Georgia with two white WELLS brothers,
Henry and Issac WELLS. Surviving records say these brothers were from
Bryan County, GA. I would love to know the names of the few slaves
these brothers brought to the Mississippi Territory about 1812 or 1813.
I am able to go back to a ggggrandfather b. in early 1800s whose last
name was POWELL/LAWRENCE. One of his sons was Moses WELLS b. ca. 1820s,
my gggrandfather, whose son was Malery Quitman WELLS. I have most of
the descendants for these families except recent ones. I have birth,
death and marriage info. I have deeds and military records, etc. I do
not know the mothers' names of Moses or Malery, which is where I believe
the WELLS name came from. I believe the mother of Moses was one of the
slaves that came with the WELLS brothers from GA.
