KORSLUND-location
in Norway unknown, Dianne Rabchak drabchak@telusplanet.net
Hans Nilson/Nelson, born November 08,
1825, ( Nils and Kari?) married Inga Marie Olsdtr,
born May 27,1835( Knute Vein is the only hint to her
parentage.) Her birthday may be incorrect. Children born
in Norway are: Ole H.Nelson, born September 24, 1856,
Christian H. Nelson, born July 23, 1860, Nickolos
H.Nelson, born June 07, 1862, Andrew H. Nelson, born
February 10, 1865 and his twin that died on the sea
voyage. to America in 1867. Ole claimed to be born at
Kristiana, but he was not found in the birth records
there. The family emigrated to America through Quebec and
are first found at Goodhue County, Minnesota, with the
birth of another son, Martin, born January 8, 1868.
Christened at the Hof church. Martin died April 10, 1869.
The last record of the family in that location was in
1871. They are at Madison, Lac Qui Parle County,
Minnesota in 1880 census. Family letters indicate there
was an Andreas Nelson and wife Berthea, with children
Johann and Karin, locations unknown until Andreas
Nelsons death December 30, 1913, in Minneapolis,
Minnesota. I believe Andreas and Hans to be brothers. Any
information of this family would be greatly appreciated.
I have been trying to find their farms for a long time.

My grandfather, Charles (Charlie) Bennett
Anderson was born in August 1871 - I believe in
the state of Georgia. He was the first generation born in
the U.S. He also had a sister named Tressie or Tressa.
These are the only two members of his family I know of.

the third generation and would dearly love to know more
about my ancestors. All I know is he arrived in his
mother's womb which means they arrived late 1870 or early
1871. I do not know which port they entered through.

HOEL-
SEVERSON 21 May 1998
I am looking for ancestors of my great grandfather he
came to the United States in 1872, from Nes near Hamar,
Norway from a farm named Hoel. I have seen several
variations of his name here in the states. I believe he
came over as Sever Pederson Hoel. His
wife's obituary in 1903 calls her Bertha S. Peterson in
one place and Bertha S. Pederson in another. I have seen
their children's last names as Severson
(my family last name), Syverson (Oscar/Grandpa's address
sheets), Syversen (Naeseth research), Sivertson (Dad's
baptismal), Sivertsen (Aunt Emma's baptismal), Hoel
(tombstone/back of a picture Marshall has), Pedersen
(Naeseth research) and recently I saw the last name of
Gaalaasen (Gerhard B. Naeseth research). These are all
names from the same family out of a 20 year period of
1872 - 1892. It makes my job very interesting.

ANDERSON
16 May 1998
Elias Anderson, b.1853,
emigrated from Skudeneshavn, Norway in 1870. Elias was a
brother of my great-grandfather, and I have several
letters that he wrote to his brother and to his parents
in Norway in the periode 1901 - 1928. The last letter I
have from him is dated September 10th 1925, and is
written from Fremont, Nebraska. In this city, Elias had a
business called "E. Anderson Company - furniture,
carpets, rugs." In an earlier letter, written 1922,
it seems that he lived in Racine, Wisconsin. At that
time, his business was called "Belle City Furniture
Company - Furniture and Undertaking". Elias
children, according to the letters were: Charlotte, Agnes
and Robert. I should like to know what happened to Elias
further, and whether there are any descendants after him.

LEE
- 10 May 1998 LeeW@Bantrel.com
I am searching for relatives in Norway. My grandparents
emigrated to the U.S.A. (Tennessee) (date unknown).
Around 1900 they travelled north looking to homestead in
Minnesota or the Dakota's. By this time most of the good
farmland had already been claimed so they kept moving
north into Canada and eventually homesteaded in near
Weldon, Saskatchewan, Canada. They filed their homestead
in 1902.
My granparents:
LEE, Per (died 1903)and his wife Mer(?) (died 1904)
their children: Sevirt, Oliver, Pauline, Inga, Anna,
& Mabel.(now all deceased)
Oliver Lee (born 1890-died 1957) was my father, and
although I was young, I remember him telling me that his
parents lived near Trondheim, Norway before emigrating to
America.
I also have an old letter (1904) from a "Cousin
Bertina" who lived in or near St. Joseph, Minnesota.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

they speak English, as I do not know their language.

visited with some of these relatives, but he passed away
several years ago. He said he thought someone in the
family had done a family tree, but he did not know who.

Half my family come from Norway, and I have been
researching into my family tree for a year or two now. I
would be very grateful for any help you can give me. In
order not to burden you I shall start with just a couple!
1. Tjøstol HALVORSEN (my great grandfather)b.14 March
1838 in Porsgrund, married 28 May 1876 and died on 3rd
October 1916 in Arundal. I understand he worked as a
merchant. 2. Johan Nordahl BRUN (my my GGGGG Grandfather)
I know he was a Bishop in Bergen, was born in Trondheim
on 21st March 1745 and died in Bergen in 1816 but do not
know much more, except that he wrote the BergenSong! In
particular I would love details of his ancestors. I am
extremely grateful for any help you are able to provide,

SAKSVIK
1 May 1998
I am trying to locate possible descendants of my uncle
Kristian Evensen Saksvik, born September 25, 1883 in
Malvik, Norway. Kristian emigrated from Norway, leaving
April 16, 1907 on the shipping line Skandin(avian?),
destination Minot, North Dakota. Searchin in North and
South Dakota and in USA otherwise has been unsuccessful.
Kristian was one of five children of Even Eriksen Saksvik
and Hanna Kristensdatter Saksvik from the Saksvik (Upper)
farm in Malvik. Kristian might have used the name Saxvik,
Saxvig. Saksvig. Evensen or Sakshaug. Kristian might have
moved to Canada after arriving in the USA. Anyone knowing
about Kristian Evensen Saksvik or his descendants, please
forward your information to Per Saxvik, British Columbia,
Canada by E-mail to persaxvik@msn.com
