Martha Arntson was the daughter of Arnt Jørnsen (1838-1899) and Sigrid (or Siri) Rasmusdatter Evgen Høgseggen (1852-1926).  She was born in 15 July 1892 in Melhus, Norway. Martha emigrated  under the name "Martha Arntsd. Høgseggen" on April 25, 1911 from Trondheim to Menomonie, Wisc. at age 17.  Her sister Anna Arntsdatter Høgseggen, born 1889, emigrated with her.  Their older brother Andrew Arntson, b. 1877, (Norwegian name: Anders or Arnt) had emigrated earlier to Menomonie.

Martha married in 1925 to Axel Mitlyng, who was born in 18 Sept. 1887 in Menomonie, Wis, son of Arnt and Marit (Oas) Mitlyng. They lived on a farm in Lucas Twp., Dunn Co, WI.  They had one child, Marlys, who married Clarence Eichmann and had four children.

Martha died Oct 12. 1981 and Axel died on Feb. 9, 1977 in Dujn County, WI.
