IVERSON

Peder Iverson, the new farmer here, was born in 1751 and
was originally from Oppdal. According to tradition, his
father lost his life working at the Folldal works. As a
widow his mother took her two boys and went to Tingvoll.
It is said that she married someone on the Sesbo farm,
but nothing of this is mentioned in the Stangvik church
books. Peder Iverson died in 1829. Any clues, or comments
on how I might proceed to find Peder Iverson's parents
and birthplace. All help very much appreciated. Warren

Kolbeinsson Barstad, b. 22 Apr 1807, Barstad Farm,
Sunnmore Co, Norway. He moved to Bergen, married and had
at least one son, Colbein Andreas Nilsen Barstad, b. 4
May 1843 in Bergen, whom he sent to live with his brother
in Aalesund. Does anyone have access to Bergen Kirke

(LARSON) FAMILY FROM "AGGERSHUS"
AREA 29 Aug 1997
I am researching the following relatives who came from
"Aggershus" County, Næss Parish, Arnestad and
Hovind gards:
Gulbrand Gudmundson Arnestad, who was born in 1760 in
Næss. He married Inger Hansdatter Arnestad, who was born
in 1762.
Their children are as follows:
1. Gudmund, born in 1793, married Kari Hovind
(children were Gunerius, born in 1820, Jacob, born in
1826, Markus, born in 1830, Andrea, born in 1834, and
Nicolai, born in 1836).
2. Ragnhild, born in 1791, married Ole Brekke in Aku
(children were Gudbrand, born in 1822, Martinius, born in
1826, and Karen born in 1828).
3. Marte, born in 1800, married twice, 1st husband was
Peter Biorg, and 2nd husband was Lensman Christoffersen
from Hurdalen (child by first husband was Thea, born in
1833).
4. Elen, born in 1805, married Lars Henriksen
(children were Edvard, born in 1829, Andreas [Hellie
Andrew], born June 17, 1832, Ole, born in 1836, Marie,
born in 1839, and Peter, born in 1842).
5. Karen, born in 1809, married Anskar Meyer (children
were Carl, Nils, Clara, and Christian) the
children’s birth dates are not known.
Andreas (Hellie Andrew) Larson my
great-great-grandfather was born on June 17, 1832, in the
Vestby area, in Aggershus County. He imigrated to the USA
and lived in Brown County, Minnesota. He died on June 21,
1921, in Burnstown, Minnesota. He married Margaret Larson
in Norway. She was born on May 6, 1838, in the same area
of Norway, and died June 3, 1921, in Burnstown,
Minnesota.
Their son, Louis A. Larson, was born on November 3,
1858 in Norway, and died April 3,
1932, in Springfield, Minnesota. The rest of the
Larson line has remained in Minnesota.

Searching for info on my great grandfather, Erik Eriksen
Nystumoen. The only info I have on him is that he was the
father, in 1873, of my grandfather, also Erik Eriksen
(who adopted the farm name Rasten at emigration in 1905).
Nystumoen is a farm, or sub-farm, near Koppang, Hedmark,
Norway. He was not married to the child's mother, Eline
Larsdatter.

(born 1843) and son (born 1876), who emigrated from Stor
Elvdal, Hedmark, Norway to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin in
the 1890's. Both disappear after 1900. I have extensive

Hello. I am searching for the parents of Goro Jensen (LDS
AFN# PM5Q-TV), who was married to Anders Torgersen (LDS
AFN# PM5Q-SP). She was born in 1688, I believe in
Ullensaker, Akerhus. He was born in 1684, probably in the
same area. Also, I am wondering what kind of name Goro
is. All my other female Norwegian ancestors have more
common names, such as Mari, Kari, Emma, Berthe, etc. All
the sudden I come across "Goro". Does anyone
know the history/meaning of this name? Thanks.

Seeking information on Lars Erick LARSON, and wife Lina
Andrea ERICKSON. Lars b: 22 Nov 1830 in Skein, Norway.
They married in Norway in 1861. When they left Norway, c
1868/9, they had three small sons. All three sons
contracted measles, aboard ship, died, and were buried at
sea. They lived in Boone, Iowa, USA, until 1876, when
Lina died. Lars then moved to Rock county, Minnesota,
USA. He died in Adams, Minnesota, USA.

first white settlement in Brookings County. Kristianna's

Kristian married Marie Kristiansdtr and had 4 children:

My gr grandparents and one child emigrated from
Christiansund Norway in 1882. There names where John
Andrew Rasmussen and Berntina Lund Rasmussen and child
Anna. I'm having such a hard time trying to find out what
ship they may have left on, and what port they would have

United States Air Force.An Officer and a Navigator. He
served with the 420th Air Refueling Squadron in England
Air Force Base,La. and in Raf Station Sculthorpe,

They lived on a cotter's farm called Ulvinhaggen. The
last I know about Petter was he went to a herd's farm at
about 15. He had sisters Anna. Malena, Karen Lovise and
Berit. Berit had girl child in ca 1880. illegitimate.
Anna Arnson raised the child Maria. Berit came to the
u.s.a. Malena Arnson married Peder Pederson and moved to
the u.s.a. Karen Lovise married Jo Peterson Lehren, they
bought the farm Ulvinaune and changed their name to
Ulvinaune. Anna never married but stayed home and cared
for her mother and niece. they lived at Inderoy, Norway.

Norway, on 23 June 1861 - her parents were listed as
Peder PEDERSEN and Martha Augusta OLSDATTER. This seems
to fit my husband's Pedersens - the names are just too
much of a coincidence! Other children born in Norway
include: Charles Oscar in 1862, Bernhardt in Aug 1863,
and Hannah/Anna B. in July 1866. The next child was born

My name is Herman H. Finseth (Peruvian,53 years old)
grandson of Nils Johansen Finseth (born on November 19,
1881 in Afjord). He was son of Johan Kristian Pedersen,
Finseth (born on July 10 or 20 1827, he got the surname
Finseth when bought the farm Finset in Afjord) and
Johanna Bergitte Olsdatter (born on June 26, 1835, I
believe in Bjogn Kommune, Oldem in Lysesundet, and that
she was the original Finseth). They has 12 children:
Ragnhild Pauline (Bratsetora 1/2/1858), Mette (Finset
20/2/60), Ole (28/3/62), Peter Lorents (10/8/64), Berit
Johanna (14/1/67), Oleanna (w) Marine (30/5/70), Ida
Karoline (13/9/72), 4 (four) other unknown to me, and my
grandfather Nils Finseth.
I was told that a person named Helge Bueng in Afjord is
working in developing the family tree of many families in
Afjord, including the Finseth's but I never reached her,

I am looking for information about my grandfather
Christen Christenson (Kristen) Drivdahl (Drivdal), who
was born 8 March 1880, on the farm Nedre Drivdal, in
Lund, Rogaland, Norway. I know that he came to the United
States about 1898, and have found him in the 1900 Census
in Melville Township, Sweet Grass County, Montana. What I
have not been able to find out is when he left Norway,
the ship he arrived on and where he landed. Family
history say the arrived at Ellis Island, in NY. I have
gone over New York ship passenger list form 1 Dec. 1896
to 1902 with out finding him. Any ideas on how I can find

My great-uncle (whose other information has proven 100
percent accurate) gave the name of my great-great
grandmother as Marin OLSDATTER, born 1 Jan 1833 at Haug,
Norderhov, Buskerud. She married Tomas Knutsen Aslaksrud
(or Odden ) in Norderhov on 15 Jul 1855. Tomas was a
crofter (husmann) at Gudmansodden on Sondre Hougsrud,
Begnadalen, Oppland province, from 1856-1905.Marin died
15 Apr 1918 in Norway (place unknown). The IGI has a
Maren Olsdatter christened 8 Apr 1833 in Norderhov,
daughter of Ole Ottersen and Anne Mikkeldatter. Does
anyone have a bygdebok for Norderhov, who could confirm
that Marin was daughter of this couple ? Or other
verification. Thanks much.

grandfather, Hans Gunder or Gunderson-Hammer. He lived in
Oslo, Norway. Came to the United States at the age of 19.
Settled in Dwight, North Dakota where he met and married
my grandmother, Georgina Olena Otterson, whose parents
also came from Norway. They had 7 children, Ralph,
Clarence Harper (my father), Dwight Clayton, Earl, Harry
Ellsworth, Emmett Odean, and Gladys Irene. All are now
deceased except for Clarence, Dwight, & Emmett.
Family history has it that Hans taught school before
coming to the U.S. Any information I can get will be
greatly appreciated. Will share any information I have
with any one else seeking information on the Hammer's.

I'm looking for any information on my birth father: Anton
August OLSEN, it is believed that he was born in 1909 in
Bergen, Norway and left to work in the Brooklyn, New York
Shipyards at age 15 (approx. 1924). Once in Brooklyn, he
married Helene [Helen] Joan Muller [Miller] and they
lived at 150 Hicks Street in Brooklyn, New York when I
was born on March 24, 1947. I was placed in The Norwegian
Children's Home at 1355 - 84th
Street, Brookly, N.Y. on November 5, 1951.
There is a possibility that my birth father was the same
Anton August OLSEN who was awarded the U.S. Naval
Distinguished Service Cross and was a heroic figure in
the Baltic area during World War II. While no one claims
to have ever seen him after he left Norway, some reports
have him dying of a Heart Attack in 1951.

Peter married Andrina Hauge (Hegge) and emigrated to
Muskego, Wisconsin, with Andru in 1853. Peter and Andrina
had three children, Ellen (b. 1861), Martin (b. 1863) and
Ole (b. 1865). They moved to Harmony, Minnesota, in 1866,

My great great grandfather, Jens Pedersen bought a farm
in the Otteroi area of Norway, probably around the mid
1800's. Another name for the area was
"Aarvika". The name of the farm was SKOMSVOLD.
After buying the farm, he took SKOMSVOLD as his surname.
The SKOMSVOLD surname continues today on my mother's side
of the family.
Jens married Oline Lorense (maiden surname unknown). They
had the following children:

My husband's grandfather died about 1985, probably in
Oslo. Is there any way we can find out about him?
Would like information about Julius Eugen JOHNSEN, b.
26 Dec 1899 in Oslo to ?? Johnsen and Inga ??
(1879-1926). He married Selma Agnes Marie SWARD 12 Dec
1919 at Trefoldighet, Oslo, Norway. She was daughter of ?
SWARD and Olga GULBRONSON. Would appreciate any info on
any of these people. Their son Roy Norman JOHNSEN and his
children may still live in Norway and we would like to

I am looking for information on my great grandparents.
Oskar T. Olsen and Othelia Pauline Mortenson(en). Oskar
was born Dec. 27, 1873. His parents were Raphal Olsen and
Tellise Tobiasen. Othelia was born June 23, 1874. Her
parents were Ole Mortenson(en) and Karen ? (don't know
last name). They had some children born in Norway. Their
names were Jordis, Carrie, Olaf, Esther, Emma, Raider,
and Sophie. Four children were born in Norway. Oskar came
to the United States in 1907. They had lived in
Stienkjar. He had 2 brothers and a sister living in
Norway in 1940. I would appreciate any information on any
of these names.

LARSON/ERIKSON/MOBERG

Seeking information on Lars E. LARSON and Lina ERICKSON.
They were married in Norway in 1861. Lars born in Skein,
Norway, 22 Nov 1830. Lina born ????? They arrived in the
U.S. in the late 1860's. When they left Norway they had 3
small sons. All three sons contracted measles, aboard
ship, died, and were buried at sea. Lina died in Boone
County, Iowa, U.S.A., in 1876. Lars then married Seneva
Hansen in 1884, and Tobina Anderson in 1904. Sometime
after arriving in the U.S.. Lars changed his name to
MOBERG.
Also, searching Trondheim for: SOLEM, SJOLIEN, BREKSTAD,
RECKSTERBERG, DYRENDAL, TOMLING, THORSTEINSON, KNUTSDTER

I am looking for any information on a Benjamin Husby (it
could have been something like Berent, rumor has it that
his name was change when he reached his destination). He
was born in Trondheim, Norway on 23 Aug 1884. When he was
around 19 years old (about 1903) he immigrated from
Norway. He left with three of his brothers: Andrew, who
returned to Norway; John, who we believe to be the
youngest who died in a 1918 flu epidemic; and Ole, who we
think settled in Malta, Montana. Ben lived in Sand
Coulee, Montana. He married Mary K. Greytak on 4 Nov
1924. They had two children: John Husby born 22 Apr 1926
and Margaret K. Husby born 11 Sep 1932. Benjamin Husby
died on 19 Aug 1960. This is all the information I have
on Benjamin Husby and would like any information that can
help me track this branch of my husband's heritage. Thank

in Loddefjord, Norway on Oct 28, 1923 to parents: ALMAR
& MILDRID ANDREASSEN. Was adopted when about 3 years
old to: ANDERS & DORTEA TYSSOY. Have been in the U.S.
since 1945 and have never returned to Norway. I kept in
touch by mail for a while, but lost contact years ago.
Tyssoy is a small island off the coast of Bergen, Norway.

Would love to share information with descendants of Ole
Andreas KOLBERG and Serianna ROGERTSON, who emigrated
with their family, from Vikna, Trondheim Province,
Norway, to Red Wing, MN, in the spring of 1881. My
grandfather Olag Gustav KOLBERG was one of the children.
His Norse-born brothers and sisters were Brede, Laura,
Olga, Alfred, Ragna, and Arnold. Naina was born in Red
Wing. Ole was born in Kolbergplass, Beitstad and his
parents were Peter Andreas Olson and Anne Martha Thoro.
Serianna was born in Lauvoya, Vikna, and her parents were
Nils Rogertson and Boletha Svensdatter.

I am looking for information on my Great and Great Great
Grandparents. THOR LEIF HELGERSEN (my Great Grandfather)
left from Bergen Norway and came to the U.S.A. He married
JENNIE JOHNSON (Great Grandmother) on Sept. 28,1882 in
Clalsop, Oregon. Both born in Norway. Thorleif had one
known younger sister Christine. Jennie's, mother's,
oldest sister was the Lady of Northernport. What does
that mean ? Thorlief got his citizenship in November of
1892 in Whkiakum County. At that time he changed his name
to Tollif Helgesen . They had 10 children:

3. Oliver------was in the U.S. Navel Force some time
around 1919. Address: U.S. Navel Force, c/o Post master,
