Knudt Danielson (b 10 Nov 1853, d 1 May 1930) and Carrie/Karen Johnson/Satterberget (b 1862, d 13 Feb 1933) lived near Melrose, WI (Jackson County). I'm looking for any information related to them, their parents, and their children. Knudt and Karen immigrated from Asnes, Norway (separately). Knudt's parents were Daniel KARLSEN and Olia JORGENSDATTER (they never left Norway). Neri T. Johnson/Heimdahl (b. 14 Nov 1858, d 27 April 1928) and Kjestina Torkelson/Hachiem (b. 11 July 1862, d 1913) lived near Franklin, WI (Jackson County). I am looking for any information on them, their parents, and their children. Neri immigrated from Telemark, Norway. Kjestina was born in WI, but her parents immigrated from Audland/Sogn, Norway. Neri's parents were Torger Heimdahl and Bergit Okdatter (Bergit died on the immigration ship, and Neri was adopted by his aunt and uncle: Neri and Sidgrid Heimdahl) Heimdahl was the farm name, they changed their name to Johnson upon arrival in America. I am told there is an area of Norway called Mingia. I have been searching for a long time for an ancestor, Ambros Mingia, who with one brother, called "Dudley," in the company of their father came to America 1800-1806 and were in Virginia before migrating to North Carolina where Ambros died. I want to know about the Mingia name and the people but many who have searched before me have also come away empty handed. Interested in information on Ole KNUTSEN and his wife Haldis ELLEFSDATTER. They had at least two son, one was name Knudt OLSON (30 May 1835), and the other was about three years older. Guttormson / Thompson

There is so little information available to me to research. My grandmother, Anna, and her two sisters, Hilda and Josephine, came to America with their father c. 1887. Anna would have been about 2 1/2 years old. Her birthday was December 12, 1884. While she was alive it was commonly that her maiden name was Guttormson. It wasn't until after she died that someone noticed that on her marriage license in Albert Lea, Minnesota (Where she married Lars Christian Godskesen on March 25, 1903.) her name was listed as Anna Thompson. Unfortunately, there was no one left alive who could relate why there was a difference. And now the clues are long gone and I am at my wits end to come up with more ideas. Does anyone have any input on how to go about this impossible search? Anna always talked about being from Oslo. We don't know if it was the city or the county (area). Settled in Minnesota or Wisconsin and then joined the Navy and fought in the Spanish American War. ANDERSON

Looking for information on my great grandfather, Martin ANDERSON, born in Christiania (present day Oslo), 23 Jan 1865. Martin Anderson arrived in New York the spring of 1882 and left for northern Michigan where he worked in the woods until the spring of 1884. In 1884 he left Michigan for Minnesota and then to Ashby and Elbowlake, South Dakota. He married Mathilda ? and had children Hans Christian, Hannah Marie, Kora Emmi and Minnie Matilda. Martin Anderson's mother was Hannah Eriksen of Ulefoss. We know from letters that Hannah's husband (known only as Eriksen)worked on the generators in Ulefoss after WWI. They (Hannah and Eriksen) lived in Oslo for about 9 years prior to the War's end. We also know from the letters that Hannah had an Aunt Karin who did in 1915 and a brother Kristian who did sometime around that same period and possibly a daughter named Marie who operated a small milkstore near or in Ulefoss.
