My name is Ross Thompson, and I'm looking for my family. My g-great grandfather and g-great grandmother were both from Norway and came to the US prior to 1889. However, all I know is that his name was Fred Thompson. My great grandfather was born here in LaCrosse WI. USA in 1889. His name was Merle Edward Thompson. I was told my family was from Telamark where we farmed. My grandfathers father came to the states and farmed in Wisconsin. Some still farm there today. We kept our family name "Hegna" from Norway. December 6, 1950 in Fairmont, Minnesota. Her mother, Gunla Sisela (Moe) Anvick obtained a passport for USA August 26, 1891, and Anna came with her. I am looking for any Berseth near Molde, Norway. My great-great grandmother Marie Berseth and her sister Lena left Molde late 1800's. They were following two brothers Daniel and Thor (Tory) Johnson. Of course Johnson may not be their last name, probably changed at Ellis Island. But Marie and Lena Berseth spelling was not changed. I am trying

I have the US family tree. Need information on brothers and sisters listed for: Sven Endreson Ulsaker (3 June 1853) son of Endre Svensen (born Aalrust) and Margit Knutsdatter born Torseth (married in 1842). Margit was born 1814 in Hemsedal, Hallingdahl and died in 1895. Margit must have been around 41 when our Sven was born. We have quite a bit of genealogical history for Margit (but not children) believe Sven was born of Margit's second marriage. Sven immigrated to Kindred, North Dakota, by way of Minnesota, 14 April, 1874 where he became a prominent citizen serving as a state legislator. We would certainly appreciate any information of Sven Aalrust Ulsaker. Thanks!

Place of birth listed as "SELWIG," Norway. Immigrated 1876, Charleston, SC, USA. Possibly jumped ship or just did not return to work as many sailors did at the time. Heard stories that he jumped ship with brother(s). Possible name of one other brother THOMAS. Told Thomas changed name to Thomas Thomasson (Thomassen) and moved to NY.
Anton(i) NIELSON's first son was named Thomas Francis (Frank) NIELSON, born in Charleston, SC, USA in Sept. of 1880, and listed as 'sailor' on later census. One daughter, Elise NIELSON was born Dec 1881. 2nd son; Gustav NIELSON, born Oct. 1885 in Charleston, SC, USA. and 3rd son Antonie Paul NIELSON, born Mar 1889 in Charleston also. I am looking for information regarding the surname, Korstvedt. My last name was spelled Corstvet, but it had been Americanized from Krostvedt. My great-great grandfather, Tollef Aslaksen settled in Dane County, WI in 1850 or thereabouts. He died in about 1852 during a cholera epidemic. His wife Aasne Simondsdatter later married Aslak Asmundson. They owned a farm in Cottage Grove. All I know is that from following census records the name was changed from Aslaksen to Krostvedt to Korstvedt and finally to Corstvet. My family name is Skadsberg. The earliest that I have been able to find is 1886 birth records of my grandfather's brothers and sisters. Their father's name was Kristian Olson Skadsberg (b. 1853), their mother's name was Anna Olive Martensdtr (b. 1858). There was others but I have not been able to get info regarding them. The farm that Anna apparently lived on was called Skolvig, I can't find the location of it either. There are locations named Leka (sp) and also Ringebo in the documentation. My father came over, with his mother and brother, to the US in about 1926, from Namsos.Any help will be appreciated.

When he came to the USA he changed his name to Hjalmar Abrahamsen, taking his father's first name "Abraham" and adding the "Sen" from Olsen. I have no info as to what farm he was born on. Hjalmar Abrahamsen married "Signa Hegstad" I don't know if he got married in Norway or the US.

I want to get information of my ancestors (Finseth's from Aafjord, Norway). Specifically I will like to know the descendant of my Great grandparents Johan Kristian Pedersen, Finseth (born on July 1827, he got the surname Finseth when bougth the farm Finseth in Aafjord)and Johanna Bergitte Olsdatter (born on June 1835, I believe in Bjon Kommune, and she was the original Finsseth).
They had 12 children, one was my grandfather Nils Johansen Finseth (born on 1881) who left Norway to go to England and then to Peru in Southamerica. Most of Nils brothers and sisters went to USA. Farms or places as Finseth, Finnset or Finset, Kroken, Arnes, Afjord

WI, died 24 1892 McFarland, WI married Bertha (3) Karine Caroline born 03 Mar 1851 Dane Co. WI died aft 1893 married Mr. SNYDER. (4) Ingrid "Edna" born 23 Oct 1853 Dane Co. WI died 20 Mar 1899 never married. Brita GJERTSDATTER married 2nd to Knut HELGESON, born 14 Dec 1836 Norway on 14 Dec 1855 in Dane Co. WI. Their children are: (1) Henry Olaf born 26 Sep 1856 WI, died 1893 (2) Erick Andreas born 1858 Dane Co. WI died 1922, married Ingeborg SOLFESDATTER (3) Anna J. "Annie" born 23 Jan 1861 WI, died 13 Sep 1947 married 1st Bernt JOHANNESON 2nd Ove JOHANNESON (4) John Kristian born 13 May 1863 died 30 Jul 1955 married Britha PETERSDATTER (5) Brigitte Caroline born 23 May 1865 died 31 Jul 1889 Ole & Brita TORKILDSON came to the USA in 1847. My ancestor is Ole TORKILDSON'S son Torkel "Thomas" OLSON. I would like to find where the family is buried and I would like to get acquainted with some of Ole's & Brita's descendants. I would like to find the ship they came on and I am unable to get out to do research. I use a laptop in bed, so I need sources I can look at on the internet. I would like to see pictures of the part of Norway they came from.

Information on Christian OLSEN, born July 1836, Norway. Need parents name and his birth place. Christian married Constance ERICKSEN, born 5 December 1852. I need place of marriage in Norway. Her parents were Christian ERICKSEN and Marthe LARSEN. Christian and Constance married about 1867/68. Their first child was Peter Christian Olsen born 1 January 1868, Norway. Their second child was Aruther OLSEN born about 1869/70 in Norway. Where in Norway were the two sons born? They arrieved in the U.S about 1870. Their daughter Julia was born in Chicago on 19 April 1873. Any information will be great.

Mikal's Father was Johannes Johnsen Hellesplass and his Mother was Karen Johnsdatter. Christiane's Father was Jens Andersen (Fluge) Ardal and her Mother was Ane Marie Gundersdatter Loset, Jens was supposedly born at Fluge, Jolster, Norway on 2 Mar 1836. Seeking any information Iver Eriksin Kvalvag (Qualvag)about 1818. Perhaps Naalsund or Kamsvagen farms. He married Gura Petersdotter Ronninghaughen. They had at least one son, Iver Iverson, b. 2/8/1844. Iver Iverson was an Army corporal, he drowned while bathing on 2/8/1844. This according to Kamsvagbutka. All comments or clues are appreciated.
