I am looking for relatives of my grandfather, Martin
Carlson, born Apr.21,1882 in Drammen. His father was Carl
Erickson and he had a brother Christson and a sister
Myrtle? I have pictures of his sister, her husband and
three children (2girls and 1 boy), also a picture of his
brother and his wife. Martin emigrated to Minnesota
(Moorhead, Baudette) around 1903. He married Carrie
(Karen) Jenson in Baudette Minnesota in 1908, and moved
to Invermay, Saskatchewan in 1909. Carrie had
sisters,Annie (Sunby),Martha (Sandal?),Hilda
(Anderson),Gina (Olson),and brothers, Olaf and Jalmar
Jenson.

and Molnes in county of Skanevik. My great grandfather,
Nils Persson (Pederson) Aksland, born 1855, and came to
us in 1881. He was born at farm Toraldsoy, Skanevik
My great grandmother, Herborg Johannesdtr Molnes, born
1862, at farm Molnes, Skanevik. She came to America also
in 1881.
I would also like to know if there are any living
relatives of the above living in Norway at the present
time and/or how I could find such people.

SIVERTSEN

We are trying to connect some information and maybe
someone has a suggestion as to how to proceed. This is
what the problem is: A gg grandfather, Sivert Sivertsen
from Maalselvn parish, Troms, farm of Kirkejord
immigrated to the U.S. around 1867, following several
children who immigrated earlier. Through the LDS
microfilms we have found him in Maalselvn parish in the
1840's till migration, he was married in Tranoe to Karen
Christiansdatter in 1825. According to his obituary he
served in the Swedish Norwegian war 1807-1814. Thanks to
records from Jarl Pedersen, we have discovered he was
born in Dovre, Oppland in 1785 or 1786.
Our problem: In the 1801 census we find a Sivert
Sivertsen age 16 at the farm of Tofte, Dovre parish,
Oppland. We also through LDS films have found a birth in
the Dovre parish that SEEMS TO match. How can we connect
these events to be sure the Sivert we have found in
Norway is in fact the same person....any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated as we feel we cannot proceed
until a TRUE connection is found. The marriage record in
Tranoe has been very elusive, so no fathers name (other
than Sivert) is assumed. HELP HELP! Regina Severson

lived on the Ulvenes farm in Sondre Bergenhuus and are
the ancestors of my grandmother, Hazel Ulvenes. Jacob had
following children: Hans and Anders. Also looking for
info on Jacob's descendents: Hans Olsen Ulvenes-his wife
Guro Halvars; Ola, Martha, Halvor Ulvenes (b. 1849) and
Gunerius Ulvenes. Gunerius married Anna Rasmussen,
parents of my grandmother.

Hoff / Jensen : trying to find our family from (we think)
Oslo, or vicinity. Bertha Marie Hoff emigrated to Canada
approx. 1900 - 1905, ended up in Montreal. She was born
in 1885, to parents Jens Peter Hoff, & Dorothy
Jensen. The couple had 6 children total, they were Dagne,
Signe, Trigve, Albert, Maurice, & Bertha Marie.
Albert was a "sailor" & Maurice, we believe
from an old photograph, was in the printing business
(newspaper? book printing?) Also, we have photographs /
portraits of Jens & Dorothy, individually, & the
cardboard "frame" says "Kristiania" I
know nothing about naming patterns, or spelling; this
information is from family history. Any help,
suggestions, links, etc, will be greatly appreciated!!

Looking for my Norwegian roots. My grandfather, Olaf
Hartwig Jacob Madison born June 8, 1891. Unable to learn
the exact place of birth, but have heard that it may have
been Oslo. His father was Hans Madison. His mother was
Ingebord, or Ingeborg Bjorke or Bjarke. Siblings were
Sonja, and Signe. Signe married a Meyer, and lived in
Lillestrom,
Norway. I have some evidence that she emigrated to the US
and died in New York in 1964. My grandfather also
immigrated to the US, date unknown. He married a woman
named Francis? in Alma, Michigan in 1918. They had one
child, William, born May 8, 1925,who died in June of 1990
in Lexington, Virginia. They divorced some time before
1935. Olaf then married Isabelle Steele Thompson in Sault
Ste. Marie, Michigan. They had 3 children. Sonja, Roger,
and Thomas. Grandpa was a ships steward with the Roen
Steamship Line in 1943. His ship was torpedoed in the
Atlantic. He was the only survivor. He died shortly
thereafter. I am desperate to know anything about his
family in Norway. My mother was only 5 when he died so
never really knew him. I would love to give her this
information. Thank you for any assistance you can give

17 may 1850 Saetersdal. In Norway it could have been

in 1889, ending -up in Minnesota. He married Johanna

states that his father's name was Peder-last name
unknown. He died on November 10, 1937 in Minnesota.

My surname I am looking for is Hovland. I still have
relatives in Norway. In Holmestrand and a distant cousin
who owns a ski resort in Skei in Jolster. Any help yo
have would be appreciated. The name of the ancestors who
migrated to America are Carl and Nils Hovland (my great
grandfather). Then went back to Norway to marry two
sisters from Modum whose name was Ingeborg and Marie
Dehli (my great grandmother). I have more names I could

Our ancestors came from the land of Norway. About seven
miles from Bergen, we find Lars Olson Sevold (sjvold)or
Saevold. living with his parents at "gaarden"
Sevold located in what is known as Finass Prestegjeld,
Bergen. He was born July 30, 1847 to Ole and Brita
Sevold. In 1869 he was drawn for military service. He
later married Cecelia (Seselie) Gurina Meling. Lars
passed away on March 27,1894. Please if anyone recognize

information regarding my father's family. I believe that
my great grandmother was born Johanna Stensrud in
Christiana probably mid to late 1800's. I do know for a
fact that she is a member of the Kristrian Stensrud
family (Kristrian Stensrud & Son Inc.) She married
Johan Christophersen and they had 5 (4 born in Norway)
children, Ingeborg (m.Haakan Wold from Norway), Olga (my
grandmother b. late 1800's d. 1944), Erik, Einar, and
Ruth (born in US). Johan and Johana immigrated with their
4 children to the US and settled in Chicago, IL, again
early 1900's and changed their name to Wang,
Americanizing (?) Vang. On my great-grandmother side I
also have the names (so far) of Ole Olsen Borud who
married Ingeborg Kristiansdatter, and bought a piece of
land in Vang No.259 called Steensrud from the farm
Finborud in 1861, and was later known as Ole Stensrud.
There is also the name Ole Simensen Borud (b.1801). I
have a book titled "We Build Onward" about the
Kristrian Stensrud & Son, Inc. and a letter sent to
Erik (Christoperson)Wang from Arne Borud, who states that
he had returned to the old family name, but his brother
Karl kept Stensrud. in September 1945. I know we still
have relatives in Norway. Any information anyone can give
me for the names Stensrud, Christopherson, Borud,
Kristiansdatter will be greatly appreciated. Marilyn

from south of Norway and they had a son called Dan or

17.5.1862 Strutshamn, Askøy (Bergen) and wife Hanna

Tromsø.

Looking for information about the ERICKSEN (ERIKSEN) and
PEDERSEN families from Tromso, Norway. Oscar Gotfred
ERICKSEN was born in about 1882 in Harstad, Norway. Oscar
was a seaman, left Norway in the early 1900's for
America. His father's name was Olas ERICKSEN, mothers
name unknown. Olas was a brewmaster, possibly with Mack
Brewry in Tromso. Olas children were Oscar, Richard, Olga
and John. Gunda Adele PEDERSEN was born in Tromso in the
late 1800's. Went to America in about 1912. Her mothers
name was possibly Elaina GULBRANSEN. Gunda had two
sisters, Sandra and Amunda, also some brothers, names
unknown. If any one has any information about these
families, please contact me. I would like to establish
contact with them. I have several photographs from
Tromso, but no names to go with the faces. Thanks

came down the St. Lawrence seaway to Wisconsin from
Bergen, Norway with her father Peter Hansen.She married
Olaf Cornelius Olson in Trempeleau Co. Wisconsin. I am

Am searching for Trygve Johansen Havsten, DOB: 15 May
1899 in Trondheim, parents names unknown but had 2
sisters, Borgen and Karin, and one brother Einar. Trygve
emigrated to the US about 1924-25 and changed his name
surname to Stone. It's my understanding he was a skiier
and participated in the 1920 Olympics. Would like to know
any information at all about this family, or the best way
to research the records of Trondheim when a parish or

surnames were Kvernerud from the farm of KVEN, and Hauge
from Nerstad. His first name was Halvor Syvert Kvernerud
and was born in Norway in 1850 and later immigrated to
Woonsocket, South Dakota. My great grandma was named
Juliana Bertelson born in Nordland, Norway Jul 10, 1854

Nels and Kjerstine immigrated to the United States in
1864 and sold their farm north of Olso "Nigarden
Vestre Bjerke" to Hans A. Augdahl. Any information
would be greatly appreciated on the above mentioned, or
even possible contacts whom I may further my research.

Left Norway 1912 for NYC. His sister was Margit Myhrer

grandmother was Augusta Elise Arneberg; born August 18,

Seeking relatives in Modum, Buskerud. Two sisters came to
the US and settled near Houston, MN about 1860. An uncle,
Kristoffer MADSEN (Stensrud?), remained in Norway. A
nephew, Charles JACOBSON, son of Hans JACOBSON Stensrud,
visited Norway in 1914 and apparently died there.

Norway: near Lillihammer there is a place called
Hunderfossen Family Park or something to that
nature...check my spelling...my maiden last name is
Hunerdosse so I was just wondering if there was any
connection in the spelling...also if you know where
Hunerdosse may have originated that would be a great
help...I know ancestors that came from Germany but from
what I know I don't believe that Hunerdosse is a German
surname so I am curious as to where it came from.. any

immigrated from Norway in the 1880's. He left Bergen,
Norway but that is all the info I have. He was married to
a Bertha Jansen (Johnson) who died in 1891 in Norway.
They had 4 children, Harry, Larson, and a son and
daughter I have no info on, He was born 31 July,1852 in
