Andrew and Guri (Wagnild) Berg

Andrew and Guri (Wagnild) Berg were both natives of Socknedalen, Norway. Andrew Berg after a first visit to America in the late 1850's had returned to Norway and was there married to his first wife, whom he brought to this country and to Dunn County, Wis., making settlement in the town of Spring Brook. After her death he married Guri Wagnild, his present wife and the mother of Mrs. John P. Solem, who had to come to America with her parents when nine years old. Mr. Berg is still living on his farm on the Chippewa Bottoms, Mrs. Berg having passed away Feb. 3, 1925. They had ten children: Andrew, now on the home farm, Ole, in Minneapolis; Gertrude, wife of John P. Solem; Betsey, who is Mrs. Joseph Sneen of the town of Spring Brook; Regnild, wife of Ed Olson of Little Elk Creek; Adolph, of Minneapolis; George of Eau Claire; Christ and Emil of Minneapolis, and Anna, at home.

Note: Guri Wagnild/Vagnild was the daughter of  Ole Olsen Vagnild, b. 1827 and Berit Olsdotter Aune, b. 1827, Soknedal, Norway who emigrated to America in 1868 with 6 children. Guri Olsdotter Wagnild was born 13 June 1859 in Soknedal, Vagnild farm.
