Johannes Ellingson came with his parents, Ingebrite and Elizabeth
Ellingson from Tronheim, Norway in the early 1880's. Johannes was eleven
years old when the family settled in Fillmore County, Minnesota. Later
they moved to Hendrum, Minnesota, where he grew up. They came to Norman
County in a covered wagon. Johannes married Bertina Benson who was born
in Leroy, MN on June 6, 1873 to parents Bellest and Martha Benson. They
died when she was young and she was raised in foster homes until the age
of 10 when she had to herd cattle for a living. They married May 28,
1890. They had 12 children.
