Ole O. Wold (Ole Olsen Voldbakken)

Extracted from the handwritten Obituaries file of Rev. Norris Olson, preserved at Norwegian American Historical Society, St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN. 

Ole Wold passed away at his home Thursday morning at 9:45 at the age of 73 (1944).

Mr. Wold was born Dec. 13, 1871 at Støren, Norway was also baptized and confirmed at Støren. He came to America in 1898 and established his home in Menomonie where he has resided ever since.  He was united in marriage to Ingeborg Froseth Sept. 30, 1900. Four children died in infancy and one son Olaf died at the age of 12. 

Those surviving are his wife, one daughter Bessie and one brother Carl Wold of Menomonie. Three nieces - Mrs. Ole Solie, Mrs. Walter Olson, Mrs. Harvey Lunke and six nephews - Ole Hage, Erick Hage, Arthur Wold, of Menomonie and Pvt. Clarence Wold now in France, Arthur Hage of Montana and Oscar Wold of Eau Claire, Wis.


NOTE: Ole O. Vold, age 20, emigrated May 4, 1892 to Menomonie, Wis.  His parents were Ole Olsen Voldbakken, b. 1843, d. 1886 Støren, Norway and Berit Olsdatter Hage (from Soknedal), b. 1841, d. 1876.  Ole's siblings also emigrated: Marit, b. 1866; Ole, b. 1869; and Carl, b. 1874.  Sources:  Digitalarkivet and Bygdefolk og Bygdeliv i Støren, Bind I, p. 61.
