An Early Description of Dover Township

Dover Township is nine miles
in length, from east to west, and six miles in width, from north to south.
It contains fifty-four square miles, and is bounded on the north by the
town of Chetek, on the south by Dunn and Chippewa counties, on the east
by Chippewa county, and on the west by the town of Dallas. The Chetek
river joins the Menomonie (Red Cedar) river in the northwest section, and
the latter stream runs almost due south, through the extreme western portion
of the township. There are numerous small streams, including Ten
Mile creek. The number of inhabitants is included in the figures
given in the census returns for 1890 as the population of the township
of Chetek, Dover formerly forming the southern half of that township.
