Family History Compilations: Albums, Scrapbooks, Notebooks
or ?
The public is invited to an
informal show-and-tell program about compiling Family
Histories, which will be led by genealogists Shirley Klamm
and Pat Fellner. They have taken their many notes,
documents, photographs and research and found ways to
organize such elements into a form that others can enjoy
and use. Their projects and tips will begin the workshop.
The
June 19 workshop is from
7-9 pm, and is free to
attend. It is also an opportunity for all who attend
to display and tell about the ways they have been
organizing and showing their family history research,
compilations of documents and other items. Creative and
interesting ways to organize and display research will be
presented with examples of family information in formats
of scrapbooks, displays, reunions, etc. which others could
use or modify. All are encouraged to bring in their own
compilations to show or display.
The program will
be held at the Gateway Building, 496 McCanna Parkway,
Burlington, Wisconsin; at the end of the Parkway. Parking
is free and the building is handicap accessible. Contact

The Genealogy of a Place
and How to Document It
Presented by Dick Ammann. A
place is a place is a place, but the name of the place may
have changed over time, as well as the “jurisdiction,” or
the larger governing unit such as a county or even a
country. For example, the place now called Kenosha County
was once part of Racine County, Milwaukee County, and it
wasn't always a part of the state of Wisconsin. How do we
as family historians document places, both in our written
histories and in our computer software databases?
This has been a picky, picky conundrum in Dick's mind and
for documenting his pre-United States ancestors for some
time. Dick is a retired Racine Museum archivist and former
university professor. He is BGS’ vice president and
program coordinator.

“Our Saints and Sinners.”
Introduce all of us to a few of the “saints and sinners”
in your family histories in the informal
show-and-tell session for members and guests.
Bring photos, stories, quotes, legends, or maybe just
rumors of some of the “characters” or “accomplished” who
proceeded you. The title of “saints and sinners” comes
from the Mayflower passengers:
not all of them were religious saints.
We all have both the good and the bad in our
lineages; some even have Mayflower “sinners.”
This will be a great opportunity for factual and maybe
even fictional story telling!! The free session will
be held at the Gateway Building, 496 McCanna Parkway,
Burlington, Wisconsin; at the end of the Parkway.
Parking is free and the building is handicap accessible.
