Am trying to trace family tree and have met nothing but dead ends! (Living in NC does not help.)
According to family records:
Arend Krombos and his brother Rheinder immigrated from the Netherlands (approx 1895-1900) and settled in Waupun, where Arend was a tailor.
On June 17, 1901 Arend married Lena Smits
On Sept 11, 1906, they had a son named Herman.
Either Nov 1942, or Dec 7, 1941 (depending on which family member is correct) Arend dies of TB in a hospital near Horicon which specialized in tuberculosis.
Herman Krombos married Irene Krey of Ripon (date unknown).
Irene Krey's parents were Christ Krey and Ottilie Werden Krey
Herman and Irene were my grandparents, and both died when I was too young to express any interest in genealogy. I have searched the databases on the internet to no avail, and have exhausted all sources at the local Family History Center as well as at the NC State Archives, where they only have 1840 and 1850 US Census with index. They also have the 1890 census on Microfilm, but no index to facilitate searching. Any assistance you can give in tracking down these phantom relatives would be MOST appreciated.

I have an old post card type picture (circa 1900) taken in Columbus, WI by "Laub" of six young men. The back of it says "Bearers for Bill Williams Bryn Hafod -- Francis Griffiths, Edward Lewis, Morgan Jones, Rob E. Williams, Tom Williams, John D. Jones (standing right)" I woud like to know more about Bill Williams and his farm named Bryn Hafod. "Bryn Hafod" was mentioned in Phillips Davies' book "The Welsh in Wisconsin" (page 33) as an example of place names but no information on Bill Williams was given. They settled in Theresa Twp. of Dodge Co. near the village of Mayfield. They were German Lutherans and farming was their occupation. In 1864, they were part of a twelve family covered wagon caravan that(once again) resettled in another German Lutheran farming community of St. Paul in Fayette County, Illinois. This family consited of the father Johaan Frederick Malchow, the mother Johanna Wilhelminia (Pruegel) Malchow, daughter Wilhelminia, sons Fred Jr. and Ludwig (Louis) and August, who was the only child that was born in the State of Wisc. I have a lot of information on this family after they settled in Ill. that I would be happy to share with anyone who might be interested.
