NY thru the 1820s; Wayne Co., Mich. from 1834 to 1851; Fayette Co., Iowa until about 1969, when they moved to Weston, Dunn Co., Wisc, where Levi died, c.1875. Children were Delos W., who had a family, lived, and died in Downsville; Polly, who married Charley Dean probably in Michigan but joined the exodus to Iowa and Wisconsin; Susan who married William Stufflet or Stoflet, who married in Mich., but were most likely in Wisconsin in 1870's; John C., Weston Town Assessor in 1870s, with his 3rd wife, Harriet Bishop moved to Washington and Oregon Territories, about 1880 (he died in Pasco, Washington, c. 1909); Johns widow and children lived on near Lake Couer DAlene, Idaho; Laura (of Levi and Kaziah) stayed on in Weston and Eau Galle with her husband, Charles H. Scott. Kaziah was still alive in Weston, in 1885; I am interested in locating her final resting place and learning something of the later lives of her daughters and their families. HOLDEN LUTHERAN CHURCH 10 Dec 1997
I need information regarding Holden Lutheran Church and Holden Norwegian Lutheran Church which existed in or near Colfax in 1908 and 1911. Were there two churches, or did both of these entries refer to the same church? If they referred to the same church, did the church erect a new building between these dates?
My problem is concerning pipe organs that were purchased by churches of those names, in those years. I have one source which says "There are two Lutheran churches in this area with similar names, both of which received organs; there are rumors that the other is extant as well, and it is not entirely clear which of the two churches/instruments is being referred to." The informant is not local, but from the Milwaukee area.
Holden Lutheran is listed for a 1 manual, 4 stop organ in 1908.
Holden Norwegian Ev. Lutheran is listed for a 7 stop organ in 1911.
