If you have something pertaining to Forest County Genealogy that you would like to share, this is a great
place to do it.  It will be appreciated by innumerable folks and you will receive credit for you generosity.
Also, please keep in mind that I am a volunteer and this is my hobby.  My only compensation is the gratification
I get by helping others. So if you donate something, and don't see it posted immediately, bear with me. I have a life
outside of the web. Most importantly, take advantage of what is here for you to use and enjoy. That is what this is
all about. Comments, questions, and offerings may be directed to Theresa.

FOREST COUNTY AKA LITTLE KENTUCKY
In the 1800's men were hired in the hills and hallows of eastern Kentucky to go by train to Forest County
in northern Wisconsin to work the logging camps. Hundreds went. The men found the land during the
spring/summer months to be much like their home state. Many stayed and found land to bring their parents/wives/children to live. Because of these men and their families there is an annual Kentuck Day's
Festival in Crandon, Wisconsin in mid July. Did your family came from Kentucky?

The WIGenWeb Project

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy
Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky,
where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross
linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.
This lead to the USGenWeb Project of which Wisconsin is a part.
Volunteers are needed who are willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the
contents of the web page.
