Harold C. Marquardt, 61, a former Black Earth resident passed away Friday (April 9, 1965) in a Madison Hospital after an extended illness. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Marquardt, Madison Street, Black Earth.
Until he became ill, he was service manager for the Hanare Feed Co. of DeForest, but associated with the University of Wisconsin College of Agriculture for many years. He served for a time as secretary-treasurer of the Swine Breeders organization.
Born at Black Earth in 1903, he had been a Madison resident the past 40 years. He was married on July 7, 1930 to Evelyn Stuckey. He was a member of the First Baptist Church here.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Judy, and a nephew, Richard, who was raised by the Marquardts, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Marquardt, Black Earth; and two sisters, Mrs. Casper Fosshage and Mrs. John Parman, both also of Black Earth.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Frautschi Funeral Home, Madison, and the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Andrew Davidson officiating. Burial was in Roselawn cemetary.--Dane County News, Mazomanie Sickle, Cross Plains Arrow, April 15, 1965.
