Mrs. Stocker---Mrs. Jacob (Josie) Stocker, 81, a resident of Spring Grove Township--Brodhead all of her lifetime, died at 8:30 p.m. Christmas Day in the Brodhead Convalescent Home. She had been ill a long time.
The former Josie Hawkins was born July 9, 1890, in Spring Grove, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judd Hawkins. She was married to Jacob Stocker June 15, 1909, in Monroe. They farmed in the Oakley Area. Her husband died in 1964.
Surviving Mrs. Stocker are a daughter, Mrs. Leon (Leona) Weidman, Rt 2, Brodhead; two sisters, Mrs. Betsy Shutt, Monroe, and Mrs. May Maveus, Whitewater, Dean Hawkins, Monroe, adn William, Janesville; five grand children, and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Ruben, of Oakley, July 29, 1969; two brothers, Ray, Charles, and Addie, and a grandson, Donald.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, in the Newcomber Funeral Home of Brodhead. Rev. Donald Sumwalt of the Juda Zion United Methodist Church officated.
Mrs. Paul Stading sang "whispering Hope" and "How Great Thou Art", accompanied by organist Mrs. Merrill Milks.
Pallbearers were Robert Olson, Frank Seibert, Jerry Jones, Stanley Stocker, Herbert Hawkins and Joe Milks.
Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery, Spring Grove Township.
