Washington Township

Extracted from the "History of Green County, Wisconsin" published by Union Publishing Company, Springfield, Ill. 1884; page 1127:
The town of Washington comprises the congressional township 3 north, range 7 east. It is bounded on the north by the town of New Glarus, on the east by Mount Pleasant, on the south by Monroe, and on the west by Adams. Washington was first settled in 1837.
Early settlers were: Josiah PIERCE (being the first), Noah PHELPS, Hiram BANE, Samuel HOLLOWAY, Jarvis RATTAN, Jared FESSENDEN, and James and Samuel CROUCH.
Religions were Methodist and Immanuel Church of the Evangelical Association of North America.
The first marriage was that of Hiram RUST and Maria PIERCE.
