The family I am attempting to find moved to Green County from Chicago somewhere in the late 1840s to early 1850s. John and his wife, Mary McAuliff were from County Cork, Ireland. They had a family of 10 children--do not believe any were born in Green County. My great grandfather. William McAuliff, was a son and I only know of 3 sisters and one brother who was another John McAuliff who was postmaster at Aredale, Butler county, Iowa in the early 1900s. Unfortunately, only know the last names of the sisters which were Kelly, Doyle and Mahoney. Mrs. Mahoney lived in Milwaukee in 1903. The family previously lived in Chicago and Syracuse, NY. I believe they farmed although John was supposed to have been a wheelwright. Thanks for any help you can give.

This query is not surname specific. I am trying to locate a cemetery in Brodhead or nearby (memories from when I was 5 yrs.old to now can be shady) where my grandparents and possibly great grandparents are buried. The cemetery is called Brodhead Cemetery but it is not listed in my Cemetery Inscription books for Green County. Also, and probably lots harder. I need to know how I could obtain a list of Lutheran churches in Green County from 1830 - 1890s that are still in existence today (or if not, have transferred their church records to one that is). I appreicate any help on these two pesky problems of the present. Surnames I have in WI. specifically Green County: ALLEN, BAILEY, KLINE, WOODLING. These are the main ones, there are some others that are married into siblings in the above names as well but I have not listed those.

I'm looking for information on John W. Deniston, my great-great grandfather, and his father-in-law, Abner Vansant. They both moved to Cadiz around 1830-1832 and built the first mill on Honey Creek. John W. was married to Anna Maria Vansant. Abner previously had a mill in Cape Girardeau county, MO. There are 2 John W.s in the St. Louis area in 1830. Family anecdote has it that John W. was raised (an orphan) by family in OH or PA and traveled down the Ohio river to the Missouri, and from there, to WI. I'm interested in any information concerning his origin, and Abner's too. My grandfather told me a Green County history had a history of the Deniston family in it, maybe there would be more information there? What was the W. in his name for? John W. had one child born in MO, according to 1850 census (his widow was listed), the first one in WI was Charles Rittenhouse Deniston. Why Rittenhouse? Philadelphia connection?

I'm looking for birth records for Jonas H. Land and Elizabeth Outhouse, Jonas was born in 1835 and Elizabeth in 1837. I believe Jonas was born in Monroe, in Green Co. Jonas had a brother Joseph. Jonas and Joseph's parents were James and Elizabeth, I have no information about them. Jonas and Elizabeth were married in Illinois, so I'm not sure how long they lived in Wisconsin.
