Green County was formed in 1836 as a territorial county. It was named for Revolutionary War General Nathaniel Greene. It is surrounded by Lafayette County, Wisconsin; Iowa County, Wisconsin; Dane County, Wisconsin; Rock County, Wisconsin; Winnebago County, Illinois; and Stephenson County, Illinois.


Green County is considered the Swiss Cheese Capital of the World!!!!
