Nils Amundson Giere, Pastor of Fountain Church, 1890-1898

Nils Amundson Giere, the son of Amund Nilson Giere and Kari Gjesme, was born
on March 7, 1856 at Koshkonong, Wisconsin. He attended Luther College, 1872-74,
1882-84; Luther Seminary, 1884-85; Capital University, 1885-86; and Northfield
Seminary, 1886-87. Nils was ordained in 1887. He married Carrie Lee in 1888.
Nils was the pastor of Aberdeen, South Dakota from 1887 to 1891 and in Black
River Falls, Wisconsin from 1891 to 1904. While in Black River Falls, he
also served as the pastor of the Fountain Lutheran Church in Juneau County
from 1891 to 1897. Nils was pastor at North Prairie, Minnesota, 1904-10;
Spring Valley, Minnesota, 1910-1920; and Lanesboro, Minnesota. Nils died
on February 3, 1944. Carrie died in 1951.
